hes just commenting on the weekly david blaine threads on tribe.
theres always someone who is freaking out about his magic tricks or TLC specials.
not that i dont think hes worth freaking out about. i've nearly lost my shit several times while watching Street Magic.

i missed out on the david blaine threads but i just have to say that i am a complete cynic, but I just don't get how he performed that card trick where he asked a volunteer to pick a card from the deck and when the card was placed back in the deck he proceeded to throw the entire deck against a restuarant window, and the card that the volunteer selected stuck to the window.........on the inside of the restuarant!!!!

yah, they are all hoaxes and camera tricks that you are witnessing..
i happened to see a special on "magic tricks revealved: street magic" and they tore everyone of his tricks apart..
even if they ever tell you "no camera tricks involved" they still are.

I saw one of his specials recently and they would rarely show his feet when he was doing the levitation trick for someone in the street.
I think that in only one shot did they actually show his feet, but one foot was blocked by the other.

A guy at my work claims that he can do any trick that David Blaine can do!

that illusion can be performed quite easily with a lot of practice.
he is basically hiding the front of his foot from the audience and standing on it.. no big deal really.
the part in that show where he raises like 2 feet in the air is just him being suspended by something.

i seen a dood do some of his tricks..
the one where he swaps the cards that are being held tightly in your fingers is a really good one. it gets a great crowd reaction.
he also did the one where he stuffs the card in his mouth without you seeing it, and then tad-ah!!! he pulls out your card.
Yea. I think i'll grab a camera and find the most cracked out impressionable low IQ people I can find, then videotape myself performing these $2 tricks on them.
Then I'll broadcast the show to the American public who I already know will be able to relate to my street audience, and become a rockstar!

jimminy christmas. it's not like he's doing actual magic ... he's not a wizard. all magic tricks use slight of hand, distraction techniques, and viewpoints, once you figure out how it's done it's really lame.
although, using the camera and editing the footage as a method to improve the trick is craptacular.
remember back when sawing someone in half was amazing, and then you found out that it was complete bullshit and that the box used was rigged so that the lady would scrunch into one half ... ya ... that's pretty much the same.

cept he thought of it first.. blending reality tv with a magic special.
The next guy to do this will be called a scam artist, Blaine will be heralded as innovative.
There was one shot in the one special I saw where they show his levitation fully..
Being in non-linear video editing field, I could see that the video was totally manipulated in post-production to separate the slight shadow from beneath his feet essentially making it look like he had full levitation..
