dated computer technology

i'm extremely budget right now, but desperate to upgrade my computer...

i'm running a pIII 450 with 96 megs of ram. and though i know how absolutely dirt cheap high-end processors are (i.e. 1+ gighz athlons), i'm also aware that if i wanted to upgrade to that level, i'd essentially have to build a new computer (new motherboard, new ram, new case etc.)...

so the simplest upgrade would be to buy a new pIII processor in the 900mhz range and to take advantage of the cheap ram thats available (leaving me more money to spend on a pant-wetting video card)...

so, i'm asking where i can buy some dated computer technology in the toronto area? and, if you know, how much do you think an old pIII at that level would cost?
(as you can tell by my comp, i've been out of the loop for a while ;))

What you could do is get the Asus board (the P4B I think) that takes a P4 chip but also has SDRAM slots, and it's capable of running on an P3 power supply so you won't have to get a new case either. You won't get the benifit of faster DDE bus speeds but it'll be better than just upgrading your CPU to a faster P3.

infonec in markham you can get the board and a 1.6 GHz P4 for about $400. (www.infonec.com).
