Since we walked out of Stereo (thursday, dec 20th, 2001. 10:00am) this will be the 15th attempt at writing a review - i've been hopelessly trying to formulate the words that will do Danny justice, but i'm afraid it'll never happen.
So here goes anyways.
The minute we stepped foot inside Stereo, we were treated to Danny's infamous bassline. After impatiently waiting for our coats to be checked, we practically skipped into the main area - and i still couldn't believe my ears.
Danny wasted no time giving it to us dirty, raw, pulsating, banging, throbbing beats. It didn't matter anymore that I couldn't see Danny in the booth which is set above the dancefloor, Danny's presence went beyond the visual kind. There were about 600-700 people dancing to his beat, on a fucking wednesday night.
The first three hours literally felt like heaven on earth. Track after track after track....each one better and harder than the one before. He had the crowd in a frenzy, right from the start.
"Last time I was in Montreal, I played here for 17 hours. That was the longest set i've ever played......"Danny Tenaglia
I lost it after that. I gave up trying to mentally record every track, every word i can come up with to describe what i was feeling, and just surrendered to his sound.
"Next week is a very special week. We're celebrating christmas and the end of the new year. Well tell you what, we're not waiting until next week...we're celebrating Christmas right now...right here at Stereo. - Danny Tenaglia
Thank you for the early Christmas present, Danny.
Catch you next time.
