Finally - Kings of Tomorrow - Danny T edit SICK
Don't you want me - Human League - white SICK
<early years> - Duran Duran - ?? SICK
I Feel Loved - Depeche Mode - New DT mix SICK

Tons of loops
Tons of samples
Tons of layering

Complete and utter affirmation on who is the fuckin dj.

I am one of the unlucky fools who felt the need to leave early. We all left at 10am. He was still playing at around 3pm. I don't even want to know about the tracks I probably missed.

He came on the decks a little after 12am and just started to throw down. Nothing like Industry where he started slow and built into the set. Hard triblly, progressive, dirty, techhouse take it like you're my bitch house. It was amazing.

Oh and Stereo was used to it's full potential. The most unbelievable sound you will ever hear.

At about 3:00 am after two hours of spinning, DT got on the mic, wished everyone a merry Christmas, told everyone he was happy to be back and that he was warmed up

Absolute mayhem from the get go. You can tell he loves the sound system. He was cranking it. Some remixes I've never heard before (KOT). And people complain about him bringing in tracks only to fade them in and out. But I liked it. He did it a couple of times.

At 5:30 he asked the crowd who was ready for a long night, and how many people were skipping work in a few hours. About 90% of the crowd put their hands up.

"If you guys are staying here, then I'm staying here" And then off he went again. Except for about 45 minutes of diva/circuit house, he had me shaking by head all night long. So funky. He layers tracks so effectively with bass and drum loops that it seems he's keeping the same bassline going through all the tracks. A lot of the Stereo residents (past and present)were just standing underneath the DJ booth shaking their heads in amazement.

And finally there's Stereo. I can't say enough good things about them. (Like the ban on glowsticks) Seriously though, amazing and very unobtrusive security, awesome people just having a good time, and a sound system which is the best I have heard. Too bad the place was opening just as I was leaving Montreal.

Too tired for Casey Hogan last night. But hopefully Satoshi will rock it tonight.

p.s. went into Inbeat Records today, XL (former Stereo, now Sona closer and in-beat owner) put a sign up:

"Please do not ask for that track Danny played!"

Since we walked out of Stereo (thursday, dec 20th, 2001. 10:00am) this will be the 15th attempt at writing a review - i've been hopelessly trying to formulate the words that will do Danny justice, but i'm afraid it'll never happen.

So here goes anyways.

The minute we stepped foot inside Stereo, we were treated to Danny's infamous bassline. After impatiently waiting for our coats to be checked, we practically skipped into the main area - and i still couldn't believe my ears.

Danny wasted no time giving it to us dirty, raw, pulsating, banging, throbbing beats. It didn't matter anymore that I couldn't see Danny in the booth which is set above the dancefloor, Danny's presence went beyond the visual kind. There were about 600-700 people dancing to his beat, on a fucking wednesday night.

The first three hours literally felt like heaven on earth. Track after track after track....each one better and harder than the one before. He had the crowd in a frenzy, right from the start.

"Last time I was in Montreal, I played here for 17 hours. That was the longest set i've ever played......"Danny Tenaglia

I lost it after that. I gave up trying to mentally record every track, every word i can come up with to describe what i was feeling, and just surrendered to his sound.

"Next week is a very special week. We're celebrating christmas and the end of the new year. Well tell you what, we're not waiting until next week...we're celebrating Christmas right now...right here at Stereo. - Danny Tenaglia

Thank you for the early Christmas present, Danny.

Catch you next time.

To all the reviews, WOW!

Danny T never disappoints. I would have done anything reasonable to be there, it just wasn't in the cards this time around. He's been on a KOT kick this year. When I was at Vinyl this summer, he was looping it in all night long. 17 hours? Wow! The man is untouchable, end of story. I doubt he would get as hyped for playing anywhere here in the T dot, aside from Industry of course.

respect

i had the pleasure of being at stereo for that 17 hour set Libra mentioned, and it was almost a religious experience! if house music is my new religion, then Danny T is the anti-christ!
SOOOOO wish i could have been in montreal for this one, but oucldn't get the time off work for it.
in response to the above post, i don't think he could EVER get so hyped about playing in toronto at all. the montreal crowd shows him mad love everytime he shows up, STEREO is without a doubt the best club in canada (i would venture to say north america as well), and finally, montreal is a HOUSE mecca...oh and i second the motion that flea's line of "take it like your my bitch house" has got to be the greatest line i have EVER read in a review!

peace

Stereo is Amazing for House music, Sona is the best when it comes to Trance and Techno two of the best afterhours in Canada maybe north america. They have three huge afterhours in Montreal with the opening in Aria and in Toronto we don't even have one. So sad I miss Industry!

I got goose bumps reading those reviews. Wanted to go so badly, but I guess I'll have to wait.

I was in Montreal at the beginning of the month, and we stopped by STEREO for a couple of hours. The crowd was 97% male, which wasn't working for me. I must admit however, that the music was great, and the system was so powerful. If only I could hear Danny play there.
