i have a feeling their new stage set up will blow away their last pyramid one. hope they have some new album material to debut aside from the Tron stuff.

In person appearances as opposed to the random dudes that they send out on tour in those spacesuits :D

Their Homework-era PAs blow away their current performances, IMO (Exhibit A: the Alive 1997 CD).

While the lightshow/pyramid is cool, all of the recent performance clips that I've seen basically have them dropping acapellas of Discovery tunes over instrumentals of other Discovery tunes a la any random hip-hop club DJ.

TLDR: "It was better back in the day!"

But now there's word that Disney will be hosting "ElecTRONica," which they're dubbing "the greatest nighttime dance party to ever rock Disney California Adventure park.

OMG. If I saw Daft Punk perform at Disneyland I would probably spontaneously combust from happy overload.

Try actually going to one of their shows if you get a chance. The visuals are WAY more impressive when you're standing in front of them, and the tracks they play are actually entirely new mixes using different elements from their previous tracks to create new harmonies and arrangements. Pretty sick shit... It goes WAY beyond simply dropping an acapella over the music from another track.

The last party was fucking epic. I was goin through some issues with my hearing (see: very near totally deaf) and still went.......as soon as their set started I pulled my ear plugs out (see: I'm really fucking retarded)........in the end........so worth it.

id place my bets on the next round of daft shows being nothing like anything they've done in the past.
they seem to pride themselves on re-invention, and also seem to believe themselves to be more "artsy" and "daring" than they are given credit for.
that being said, they are also incredible showmen.

i want to predict the next round of shows would be more downtempo and dramatic (in an ennio morricone cinematic sense - or like PORTISHEAD LIVE AT ROSELAND NYC) - like them doing the electronics with a full orchestra or something. but that, despite most artists eventually doing it like it is an act that elevates them and is breakthrough, seems to predictable and "overdone" to be what they would chose to do.

i also want to predict that maybe they will release the album and it will be very cinematic and "movie-ish", and then they will present the songs in a more dance/techno/intense way with an over the top visual show for their live appearances (but then, that is what they did for the last tour).

so what other possibilities are there?

** no matter what, i'll be there!!!

im a daft punk fanboy.

another possibility is, since they are DJ's in the movie (playing tunes at some inside-the-computer club) that they would embark on a DJ tour... not playing live, but headlining some ED BANGER parties of epic proportions.

From the links at the top of the thread, I can not find any definite plan for a tour other then a magical night @ disney. I would love to see Daft Punk. Actually, they are one act that I have missed in the past and have regretted ever since. Keep me posted if anyone hears anything.

That was a spectacular event. If I remember correctly, it was ann savage, then terry mullan, then one of the daft punk guys, then sneak. Wicked night for house.
