i don't actually care about basketball but it is a shame to see one of the most talented players ever, in any sport, go down. :(

<--- wishes he had hung on to Schwab in the tribe hockey pool :(

as for cujo, it really is a shame, i don't think that injury could have come at a worse time. now we are missing mogilny (off and on), yuski and cujo.
the leafs are definately going to have to open up their pocket books shortly and pick up a defencemen or two, and a goalie.

looks like telqvist <sp?> will be getting the call shortly. Apparently he's a pretty decent goalie, he was sweden's backup at the olympics. That's pretty impressive for a 3rd goalie.

MJ......ya whatever, it's not like Washington was going to win the campionship. I really think it was just a cash grab for him/Washington orinization. Cause without him, the Wizards were going NO WHERE for 3 or 4 years.

As for CUJO :( :( :( as well

all I can really say is FUCK SAKES!!!! this sucks.

They HAVE to get a goalie, Schwab is just not going to cut it, IMO

I forgot, but has the trade deadline passed yet?

Wouldn't it be interesting if Quinn used this to trade for a top notch goalie and shuffled CUJO oot of town? Never know.

he said he went down, put his hand out to steady himself, but caught the corner of the mesh insterad of the ice and his hand jsut rolled over with his weight on it..... *shudder*

no, the deadline hasn't passed yet. there would be way more trade talks and news if it had.

i have a feeling that cujo was on his way out of the leafs at the end of this season anyway, so look for quinn to make some kind of big moves soon.

Its almost as if Cujo did it as revenge to Quinn as pay back over the olympics drama.

apparently he can come back as soon as 4 though so hopefully he will heal quickly.

Another shitty thing is how it seems alot easier to re-inger that hand(trapper). As a goalie, I have thought on a glove save, that my hand was fuct, and one Al macInnis slapshot can prolly re-break it easily. Ask Jeff Hackett, he has had trouble ever since breaking his trapper hand a couple of years ago. even though there is no way....note to Quinn....Brodeur is good.

a possibliity may include.....Philly? could be hard to deal with, but I'd take Checkmanek or Boucher

St. Louis.....same goes for Brathwaite or Johnson

hmmmm maybe Sheilds? don't know if he'd be a permanant solution, but might be ok to hold the fort.

Telquvist???? don't really know, never really seen him play.

I hope that Minard can get a few minutes as well. He lived at my house when he played Jr B, in St. Mary's. So it would be nice to see for me.....plus he could get me some tickets :)

You all are forgetting the brother goalie: Kevin Weekes in Tampa. With Khabibulin playing solid, they don't need Weekes. Stefan Fiset is another choice. So is Jeff Hackett. Or, how about bringing back FELIX POTVIN! Would that not be something else?

As for CuJo, hes a friggin whining prick. Get the fuck out of dodge buddy. Shut your stupid word hole about the Olympics. All these rumours about him being upset b/c he didn't start vs. the Czechs or Germans. HOW COULD HE? He let in FIVE goals! You cant upset Brodeur going into the playoffs by starting Cujo. He had his chance and he blew it.

As for all these cujoasskissers, sure hes a good goalie but he aint ever won ANYTHING. NEVER. He is not worth more than Mats Sundin. Not more than Roy or Marty Brodeur. If he wont take the 7-8M we offer him, I guarantee you some other bonehead GM will give him what he wants. But the man is in his mid-30s. This team cannot sign him till hes like 39 or so. What we need is a couple of young goalies and I'm not talking about Telqvist. He blows right now.

I really like cujo - maybe he handled the olympic thing poorly but as a Leaf it's a different story

...as for the surgery being career ending, no way - he's doing this so he can play another couple years.

I've been following Curtis Joseph since he broke into the NHL, and I have to disagree strongly with that bullshit (IMO) statement. He has always exhibited class and intelligence, as well as always putting the team before any of his personal accolades or pursuit. I think he took the Olympic thing very well, perhaps I didn't see or read whatever you did. He knows the way shit goes down. He didn't answer the bell, of course Quinn would go with Brodeur (my fave for MANY years, he kicked ass in the 94 playoffs).

Just cuz someone's a high-profile athlete doesn't give you the right to slander his character. Grow up.

i don't think there is a person on this planet that can rightly slander cujo. He has a great image and is a great representative of hockey in general.

Cujo has been the most consistently outstanding member of the team for years. This is a great loss, he has often carried the entire team to victory. Don't make your Uncle mad and give cujo a break. (or did he already recieve that?)

Not really concerned about the MJ thing....however, losing CuJo until playoffs seriously hurts.....there's no way the Leafs will Survive with Schwab as their starting goalie....they're gonna have to trade for someone....or, bring Healy out of retirement???

I hope Jordan retires. There are enough young players in the league to follow without him. The superstar retirement and comeback thing is old..(yawn). We already had a :( day when he retired before, why waste any more thought or emotion on the guy. The Wizards aren't going anywhere anyhow.

Healy was an under-rated goalie, how could anyone look good following up joseph's work (except against buffalo ). Schwab may be good insurance for cars but not for hockey.
