here's a good one....

My friend told me that the government has found a cure for cancer, but they don't want to reveal it because there's so much money going into cancer research...He was told by his mother, I have no clue who she heard it from. It seems a extremely absurd but I don't think it completely dispells any possibility that the government does keep things from the public.

Leo-girl.....A little army of nano-bots are marching around your internal organs and controlling your mind at an attempt to increase mass consumerism.

How did they get there?

Through your drinking water

someone spiked my drink

I don't know......are you on glue?

IF these nano-bots are controlling my mind, they're making me think dirty thoughts, not trying to increase mass consumerism (what is that in plain english anyway)...lol

I have heard this before as well, many times, as this subject hits close to home( my father died of cancer). I personally don't beleive it, at first it can make some palusible sense. I mean strickly from a profit point of view, what good are we as people once we stop earning and retire, we are now a burdern on the system so it would a lot cheaper for the gov't to have us die than it would be to cure us right?. BUT, there's always a BUT, I think that even if the Gov't wanted to do this it would be impossible!!

Think about all the bio tech companies scrambling to find cures for many diseases, if one were to be successfull, I don't think that the gov't could kill them all or pay them enough money. It is one common belieif that the Gov't controls this or that- its all nonesense, think about some of the large companies some of you work for, probely most are disorganized, now tmes that by 100 times and then you get the government

I think this theory is resurfacing again becasue of the rash of suspicous deaths that have plagued the microbiologist community. in the last few months.

Cancer is not one disease...

It is thousands.

There is no one cure for cancer... it's like saying we found the cure for viral infections (incidentally, some cancers are caused or triggered by viral infections).

Short answer: NO.

What a load of CRAP! Yes...that's right I said CRAP...sheesh!

The government has NOT found a CURE for cancer. Honestly people....do you know how much money is spent on cancer treatment EVERY year. Do you know how much $$$ it costs to perform surgery/chemotherapy/radiation on an individual who has cancer? Or how much money it costs to have someone stay in the hospital over nite? Not to mention all the other money that is spent on support/careworkers etc. A ridiculous amount of money is spent on cancer TREATMENT every year. I honestly don't think the money that is made for cancer research can even come close to this.

A few facts for you:

~On average, 2,579 Canadians are diagnosed with cancer every week.
~Approximately one in three Canadians will develop cancer in his/her lifetime

~On average, 375 Canadian women are diagnosed with breast cancer every week
~On average, 342 Canadian men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every week
~On average, 408 Canadians (233 men; 177 women) are diagnosed with lung cancer every week
~On average, 331 Canadians (179 men; 152 women) are diagnosed with colorectal cancer every week.

That's a whole lot of money being spent on healthcare....do you really think the government is hiding a cure??

Also.....we (as in researchers) don't really even know how CANCER works yet. It is very difficult to find a CURE for something when you have no idea how it works in the first place. The term "cancer" is an umbrella term really. There are so many different TYPES of cancer. Cancer is a very complicated process.....it is going to take many more years before we find a "miracle" cure for cancer.

Fuck you! You're the hologram motherfucker... you come clean, I want to know what reality really is.

Am I just in a coma in the hospital dreaming this up? I seem to recall an accident while I was watching The Matrix.

I wish I lived in the past. There were less diseases. Sure everyone was dying of "consumption" and "the wasting disease" but now.. wow, there's a lot more!

It was a much simpler world... with barber/surgeons-- no, those two don't go together, do they?

500 years ago, only 5% of the population could read.

From the Globe and Mail:

"There is no question that before this century, life for the majority of people was shorter, dirtier and far more unpleasant. But it was also a lot simpler," wrote Larry Letich in The Washington Post in 1995. "In medieval Europe, long division was considered an advanced cognitive skill. Five hundred years ago, less than 5 per cent of the population knew how to read. They may have lived subsistently, but everyone except a tiny elite got along in life without knowing the kinds of things we expect of fourth-graders.

Now all these people live in the States. Ha.

I agree. I am a vegetarian and totally beleive that I am reducing my chances of getting cancer by this. My father died of Cancer almost six years ago. Cancer is a nasty disease.

..............but you need to wash your veggies - nasty pestisides! Organic is best.
