Hi, I've been lurking for a while now and noticed that alot of good advice is given here. So I need some help. I'm a very shy person and am wondering how to gain some confidence. I'm currently searching for a job. What kind of things should I do to psych myself up for applying to places? I have no direction in my life. This is some heavy stuff for a first post, huh?
Finding a job means selling yourself to a complete stranger. This is much harder for some than it is for others that may have the natural ability to sell. So for us strugglers we need to look to things for guidance and motivation.
You basically need to read/listen/watch/do something that will leave you feeling empowered, like you can face anything and anyone. It doesn't necessarily have to be something directly related with sellin/confidence but it could be if hat's your cup of tea.
If watching a movie is your bag, I reccomend
Boiler Room. Although they all get fucked in the ass at the end, it's a good energy packed testosterone filled flick with plenty of examples to follow when it comes to being brutally convincing to people.
If you're the type of person that needs something a bit more genuine, then I'd tell you to volunteer to help the less fortunate, or donate blood. You have no idea what this helping others can do for self esteem and confidence. I know it's kind of morally shifted to go volunteer with an ulterior motive to "feel better about yourself" but I do believe the act of giving has it's selfish side and there is nothing wrong with feeling good when helping others.
Anyone who says money can't buy happiness doesn't fuckin' have any.
