Computer help

Ok, so i recently uprgaded my comp, getting a new mobo, cpu and ram, and now when shutting it down, it just restarts instead. Anyone know what might be causing it? Any and all help appreciated. And i did try pouring water on it, so save it

is your mobo a generic brand ? You may be experiencing the unholy powers of shoddy manufacturing.

try the system settings at the begining..when the computer is just booting up.. and look in there.

that is the only thing I can think of at the moment.

So in Windows, you click Start->Shutdown, and instead of turning off the computer restarts itself?

Yeah, kinda. It goes to the windows shutting down screen, than i get a black screen for a sec or two, all the fans and everything slows down, but it doesn't quite turn off, it just reboots after that

it's not very good for the lifespan of your computer.


For those who don't know:
Turning your computer on and off daily is like cigarettes for your pc...

You can't tell at first... but it shortens the lifespan with every puff.

HDDs will go into sleep mode if told, same with Monitor, etc...

So only the CPU / Memory is really ticking 24/7...

I formatted it, but it did the same thing. I thought that the flash was fucked, I upgraded the BIOS, nothing.
I changed the harddrive, it worked.

Your could be a totally different problem, but even I didn't think that if the WIN keeps restarting, it's related to the HDD.

Thanks! It could be the harddrive, I got another HD sitting around here somewhere, so I'll give it a shot.

It won't shorten the lifespan of your computer THAT much. And your computer is going to be obsolete within 5 years anyway, so what does it matter how long the lifespan is?

I shut my computer down overnight, if I'm not downloading porn, that is.
