One of the gripes I, like many people, have with Christmas is the sheer volume of gift giving one much engage in. Wouldn't Christmas be a wonderful time of year if you only had to buy one or two presents but this year I am buying ten presents minimum. That is a lot of time and money but I should do it because they will be doing it for me. One day when I am head of my own household I will forbid family members from buying presents for each other except for children.

But that year is not today. I must bide my time, oh yes, bide my time...

What presents have you bought (made if you're a hippie) and what was it? Let us use this thread to read about other people's Christmas ideas so that we may get some of our own.

The first present my wife and I bought this year was a cool little clubbing purse for my sister at Aldo. It is a perfect sphere and unzips all the way around. It was funky and when we saw it we both said it was perfect for her. We will fill it with make-up and girlie stuff like that.

I really like buying presents for people. It's fun to get them stuff you know they want and will love, but would never buy for themselves. I love watching people open stuff. I get so excited about what I get for people and I try to put a lot of thought into it to make it personal rather than just spend money.

I tend to do this year round and just do more of it at christmas all you "christmas sucks, people are so commercial and sold out" people - so don't be getting all preachy about it.

this year i am getting my sister a funky winter jacket because her good one was stolen and she's been wearing my old ski jacket and I know she won't buy one herself. and her boyfriend is a musician and she's been having fun dressing funky to go to his gigs and you just can't do that in your sister's old ski jacket.

for my brother in law - we're thinking about a ... wait, he might read this... never mind.

mom - really good loose tea, belgian dark chocolate (her two favourite things), other than that I don't know

dad - clothes, socks, underwear. he hates clothes shopping with a passion and never buys stuff that fits him. i don't even think he knows what size he is. this way he doesn't have to do it.

steve - i'm getting him an xbox (ha ha - yeah right - gotcha! bet you we're all excited - cause i'm really not! )

mum and dad in law - ????????????????

for assorted relatives - an assortment of homemade cookies in pretty keepsake tins

I have ideas (I LOVE Christmas shopping!) but I don't always know where to go to get them. I used to have a lot of time to wander the city looking, but I don't anymore.... and my unwillingness to support certain large companies is sometimes a setback.

The perfect gift for the pseudo-in-laws would be the movie The Dish, but they refuse to get a DVD Player, so I have to find it on VHS, which is difficult. I'm afraid I'm going ot have to give in and order it through Blockbuster, a company I avoid, so any alternate suggestions are welcome.

I also need to know where I can get a Transformers T Shirt.

I'd like a lot of things... but all that comes to my mind at the moment is a DVD-rom.
I'd get myself one, but i'm lazy.

As for my folks... I generally buy maybe 1 or 2 things for them. My mom is getting harder and harder to shop for, because she has pretty much anything and everything she could ever want/need.
