Choon/Sample Question

This past weekend I was back in Toronto and happened to be at Modrobes when the DJ was playing a track that appeared to contain the original accapella that Norman Cook used in his song 'Star 69'. The DJ told me the name of the track and the producer, but damn me I forgot it. Can anybody help me out here? You know what I'm talking about?

'They know what is what, but they don't know what is what, they destruct...what the fuck?'

From the sound of the original, which is very housey, it sounds as if Fatboy tweaked the vocals a bit with some digital pitching, and maybe some other effects. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There were several remixes of Star 69...Timo Maas did one, X-Press 2 did one...is that what you're talking about?

Hey Silver Robot,

No sorry, I wasn't referring to the remixes of Fatboy's 'Star69'. I am talking about a track that sounds like the original source for the sample 'They know what is what, but they don't know what is what...'

I'm thinking that Norman sampled this little snippet of a very long accapella about the meaning of house music and the dance scene. Anyhow, this is a great tune and I would really like to find out what it is called, and who produced it. The guy at ModRobes told me he just picked it up last week, which made me think that perhaps it is new. OF course it could have simply been in an old bin somewhere.

Still looking for help here folks. Any direction is greatly appreciated.

I have heard the full-length accapella you're talking about, but never the track it belongs to.

"I go deep, I go deep, I go deep..." and then somewhere later the infamous Star 69 snippit.

Maybe it's called I go deep? Or deeper? Or something like that.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Finch.

Yo Spoony D!!!

You rock man. That was the tune...I knew that I would know it as soon as somebody said that name again. I shall continue the search now that I have the artist and name. Many, many thanks to you and everyone else for the help.
