I've been trying to find the lyrics to 'Seventeenth Summer' by Chilliwack and am having no luck.

Any one have any ideas where I could find them?

I've been googling every combination I can think of to come up with these lyrics.

I'm being to think that they do not exist on the internet. I was just hoping that someone here knew about some obsure little site that google doesn't know about.

nah I've been searching as well and I've found nothing. Who'd have guessed maybe the 70's really didn't happen and it was all a joke they did for TV.

the song was first recorded under the band name The Collectors before the band members changed somehow (someone left and someone joined etc.) and the band became Chilliwack. I think Chilliwack re-recorded the song.

anyway, that's what i've found out by searching for the lyrics for seventeenth summer.

of course, haven't found the lyrics yet :) but perhaps the band name info will help in your search.

lets just go and turn this into a chilliwack general thread....
not only the band but also that small town in BC.

Ever since left me
I sure feel all alone
A little misunderstanding
I can't get her on the telephone
Hanging out down on Main Street
Living in a different world
Standing around with the gang on the corner
Talking about my girl

My girl - She was the world to me
She's gone - Away across the street
My girl - Is just a memory
She's been so long away

She didn't have to leave me
She didn't have to run
She didn't have to go without a word to anyone
I hope she's doing alright
I got no way to know
Unless she gets to hear this song
Hear it on the radio

My girl - She was the world to me
She's gone - And that's a tragedy
My girl - Is just a memory
She's been so long away

[Break]

I hope she gets the message
Got to ger back, you know
Gonna track her down, I'll find that girl
Gonna tell her that I love her so
Put the word on the grapevine
Spread it all around the world
Sooner or later i know i'm gonna get her
I'm talking about my girl
My girl

My girl (x12)

From Bill Henderson's website. Appears to be updated into '06. I'm sure if you send an effusive e-mail he'd be happy to regale you with acid-tinged reflections and the lyrics.

btw, it appears that was one of a number of songs written for a play written by George Ryga, who gets a songwriting credit (he wrote Ecstasy of Rita Joe, which some of you, like me, may have had to endure in h.s. Eng.)
