I am currently in Chicago!

It is cold and windy...but no snow!

Did some shopping downtown and tomorrow i want to go out.
The friend i amm staying with is really into rock and such, but i would like to listen to some house music.

Derek Carter is going to be playing downtown so i think we may check that out. He's a Chi-town native so im sure it will be a good party.

Anything else i should do? i Have a whole free day alone tomooprrow.

eat?
shop?
go out?

I like Chicago, but i miss Toronto!!

Well, I'm a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers began visiting here in the late 16th century.

hey, isn't Milwaukee an indian name?

Yes, Pete, it is. In fact , it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."

For some artery clogging goodness, you HAVE TO find this famous deep dish pizza place I went to. It's called "Gino's East". Everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING in the place has signatures on it....the walls, support beams, stools, tables. They have markers laying out and you're free to sign whatever you want. Mel Gibson's autograph was at the end of our table!

The deep dish 'za was rediculously good. I've been itchin to go back to Chicago just so I can eat there again!

Was there this summer. There's tons of great neighbourhoods to walk around, but not great if the weather is cold.

Check out the art institute...lots of amazing works there.

Chicago Kid gave me tons of advice here before I went. Do a search and follow his words!

The windy city is a great place. Stroll around and soak up the architecture...

I was there WAY back in 1995. Had a great vacation, 2 many stories... not Tribe material ;)

Make sure you go to this location, and this location only. The other ones are not as good. Note that it takes 40 minutes for them to bake you a pizza, so be prepared to wait a while. You could always call in advance. If you're by yourself, a small would be advised, as you'll be lucky to get through two pieces. Trust me.

Go shopping on N. Michigan Ave. If you can't find a store you like on that stretch, you're crazy. All the big names are on the stretch - both labels and department stores. My suggestion is to go up one side and back down the other. You'll miss a lot if you criss-cross!

For lunch, check out Heaven on Seven. It's a cajun place, and the gumbo there is better than I had in New Orleans. Huge portions (too big), and good value too. It's been great on both trips I made to the city. They say the address is 600 N. Michigan or something, but the entrance is actually at the intersection of N. Rush and E. Ohio, one block west of N. Michigan. It's on the northeast corner, and you have to go into the building and then up the escalator to get there.

The Art Institute of Chicago is cool too, and you can take the CTA down there, since it's a short trip down from the main strip on N. Michigan (at Monroe).

Hope that helps!

everytime i go to chicago i bring back one of these bad boys (get them half baked and toss them in the oven for 20 mins when i get home, et voila) from gino's if i go into dupage or o'hare but if i'm at midway and in a pinch i grab a crew car and head to giordano's which is also kickass. the pizzas from these places are literally about 10lbs each and sooo good. heartburn city.

Chicago is my favourite US city by far. You don't mention where you are staying, but if you are downtown, the shopping on the Miracle Mile is very good - start at the Hancock Tower and work your way down. I find Chicago very walkable downtown and it is the best way to appretiate the buildings.

Chicago has amazing architechture, so a tour is a good way to spend some time if you are into that sort of thing.

There are also lots of museums and galleries in Chicago - the Art Institure of Chicago has an excellent modern collection.

Eating - Tavern on Rush (N Dearborn and Rush) stands out as a great steakhouse.

Enjoy!

I thought it was Algonquin for "a whale's vagina"

"Everybody needs a little time away," I heard her say, "from each other."
"Even lover's need a holiday far away from each other."
Hold me now. It's hard for me to say I'm sorry. I just want you to stay.

After all that we've been through, I will make it up to you. I promise to.
And after all that's been said and done,
You're just the part of me I can't let go.

Couldn't stand to be kept away just for the day from your body.
Wouldn't wanna be swept away, far away from the one that I love.
Hold me now. It's hard for me to say I'm sorry. I just want you to know.
Hold me now. I really want to tell you I'm sorry. I could never let you go.

After all that we've been through, I will make it up to you. I promise to.
And after all that's been said and done,
You're just the part of me I can't let go.

After all that we've been through, I will make it up to you. I promise to.

You're gonna be the lucky one.
