Certain songs that remind you of a certain person:)

ya know what I'm talkin' about...that song, no matter what genre, that when you hear it, you think about a certain person...whether it's friend, family member, loved ones from the past, present, and future....here's mine:

Wonderful Tonight
by Eric Clapton
It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair.
And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight."

We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that's walking around with me.
And then she asks me, "Do you feel all right?"
And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight."

I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize how much I love you.

It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head,
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed.
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light,
I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight.
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight."

Creed - Arms Wide Open reminds me of Lisa (my gf) :)
The first summer we were together we used to hear it on the radio all the time ... and we'd always make of it ... but we'd never turn it off

oh god I have lots of them, not only how they remind me of a certain person, but how ironic it is how the song relates to our situation...............

Hands Clean by Alanis Morrisette not only mirrored an almost identicle situation, but gave me the balls to walk away from a relationship that was never going to go anywhere.

Actually funnily enough, I think I've been stalking Alanis' life and trying to live vicariously through her songs................ pretty sad I know.

But there's lots of other good songs that make you all fuzzy and warm inside and make you wish you had someone to share it with. :(

okay I don't normally partake in this type of cheese but
With or Without You - U2
reminds me of my ex Jay totally.
I listened to it over and over when I was trying to decide whether or not we should be together :).

Sad enough but after I broke up with my ex this was my song that reminded me of her. So now when I hear it it still rings a bell, and yes I was pathetic!

Cold Play: Shiver

So I look in your direction,
But you pay me no attention, do you.
I know you don't listen to me.
'cause you say you see straight through me, don't you.

On and on from the moment I wake,
To the moment I sleep,
I'll be there by your side,
Just you try and stop me,
I'll be waiting in line,
Just to see if you care.

Did you want me to change?
well I change for good.
And I want you to know.
that you'll always get your way,
I wanted to say,

(Chorus)
Don't you Shiver? Shiver, Shiver

I'll always be waiting for you,
So you know how much I need ya,
But you never even see me, do you?

And this is my final chance of getting you.

On and on from the moment I wake....
Did you want me to change?...

Sing it loud and clear.
I'll always be waiting for you. (x3)
Yeah I'll always be waiting for you.

And it's you I see, but you don't see me.
And it's you I hear, so loud and clear.
I sing it loud and clear.
And I'll always be waiting for you,.

So I look in your direction,
But you pay me no attention,
And you know how much I need you,
But you never even seen me.

Madison Ave "Don't Call Me Baby" always reminds me of this bartender Danielle I used to work with at 606. Whenever the DJ on Saturdays would spin it we would sing at the top of our lungs and dance around.

BBB.

That's my story and I'm stickin' it to ya.

Reminds me of two of my girlfriends from university - Lydia and Courtney, we would always play it and dance around Lydia's apartment before we would go out partying. :)

I had a week-long fling with a friend of a friend (bad idea) at the end of February. Our entire relationship consisted of the movie Babe and listening to Ben Harper's Fight For Your Mind the whole time.

This song stuck in my mind, and has become a bit of an anthem for devotion since then. Not just for him, but for everyone I've loved, platonically or otherwise.

Ben Harper 'Gold To Me'

You look like gold to me, and I'm not too blind to see.
Oh, you look like gold.
Said, you look like gold.

And you make me want to sing with all the joy you bring.
Oh, you look like gold.
Oh, you look like gold.

Like the rays down from the sun when a new day has just begun.
You look like gold.
You look like gold.

And now, look it 'cause,
I've been fooled before,
But now I know,
I've made the mistake in the past,
But now, now I know the difference from the gold,
from the gold and the brass.

It's not the kind of gold that you wear but the kind that can feel my care.
Oh, yeah, you look like gold.
Oh, 'know you look like gold.

Some shine when the day is new but fade when the day is through.

But not you, you look like gold.
I said, you look like gold

Oh but, but I've been wrong before,
But now I know I've made the mistake in the past,
But now, but now, I know,
Now I know, now I know,
Now I know the difference from the gold and the brass.

You look like gold to me, and now I'm,
I'm down on bending knees.
Oh, you look like gold.
Oh, you look like gold.

And I just, I just want you to know,
To me you mean so, so, so much more than all the gold.

Oh, you look like gold.
Oh, you shall like gold.
Said, you look like gold.

From the gold and the brass.

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" - Pink Floyd

Reminds me of of several "tragic heros" I've met in my life

You reached for the secret too soon...you cried for the moon

that Ashanti song "foolish" pretty much sums up me and my ex's relationship...

see, my days are cold without you
but i'm hurtin' while i'm with you
and though my heart can take no more
i still keep runnin' back to you.

This one reminds me of my ex.
It's a favorite song of mine...

Already Gone - Blue Rodeo

Monday morning waking up
Still too numb to speak
Another night staring at the wall
Last night's conversation
Knocked me off my feet
I guess today I fall

I wish that we could agree
To look the other way
Be careful of the things we do
And watch the things we say
Maybe then we'd get somewhere
We've never been before
But what's the use in fighting
When you know you've lost the war

Walked the streets of New Orleans
Shirt soaked to my skin
Through the mess of yesterday's parade
A thousand times a day
I think of calling you again
But I come to my senses instead

Every time we walk away
We lose a little time
Pretending to each other
Everything is fine
After all the lies I use
To get myself to sleep
I still wake up to the promises
I know we'll never keep

Say you don't see
What's wrong
Every night
Lasts so long
I know I do
You're already gone

I wonder should I get up
I would but what's the point
When something's gone
It's gone for good
Maybe I could look away
Back to where we used to be
One more time
I wish I could

Never mind the reasons
That tore us all apart
We've both done things
I know we can't defend
What's the use in tracing
It all back to the start
There'll still be something
Missing in the end

I wish that we could find
The words to look the other way
Be careful of the things we do
And watch the things we say
Maybe then we'd get somewhere
We've never been before
But what's the use in fighting
When you know you've lost the war

Say you don't see
What's wrong
Every night
Lasts so long
I know I do
You're already gone
I know
You're already gone

Yeah man, Ben Harper writes some of the best love songs I've heard in the past five, ten years.

S'more. Most of these songs aren't for anyone in particular, but for love in general.

Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Towards Ecstasy
The Beatles - Something In The Way She Moves
Erin Smith Band - My Attention
Spiritualized - Stay With Me
R.E.M. - Strange Currencies

My pick for an Ani song would be 'Providence'....reminds me of someone I loved for six years but could never have due to societal constraints, etc.

But then I stopped caring.

Knights of the Jagaur - Reminds me of my roomates at the time.
It was out home anthem.

So Cruel - U2 - Ex-Girlfriend and Me blinded by love for far too long.

We crossed the line
Who pushed who over?
It doesn't matter to you
It matters to me

We're cut adrift
But still floating
I'm only hanging on
To watch you go down...my love

I disappeared in you
You disappeared from me
I gave you everything you ever wanted
It wasn't what you wanted

The men who love you, you hate the most
They pass through you like a ghost
They look for you but your spirit is in the air
Baby...you're nowhere

You say in love there are no rules
Sweetheart
You're so cruel

Desparation is a tender trap
It gets you every time
You put your lips to her lips
To stop the lie

Her skin is pale like God's only dove
Screams like an angel for your love
Then she makes you watch her from above
And you need her like a drug

You say in love there are no rules
Sweetheart
You're so cruel

She wears my love
Like a see-through dress
Her lips say one thing
Her movements something else
Oh love
Like a screaming flower
Love
Dying every hour

And you don't know if it's fear or desire
Danger of a drug that takes you higher?
Head of heaven
Fingers in the mire

Her heart is racing... you can't keep up
The night is bleeding like a cut
Between the horses of love and lust
In a trampled underfoot

You say in love there are no rules
Sweetheart
You're so cruel

To stay with you I'd be a fool
Sweetheart
You're so cruel.

And this one reminds me of lots of people...
I think it's inspiring. :)

Juicy
(Fuck all you hoes) Get a grip motherfucker.

Yeah, this album is dedicated to all the teachers that told me
I'd never amount to nothin', to all the people that lived above the
buildings that I was hustlin' in front of that called the police on
me when I was just tryin' to make some money to feed my daughter,
and all the niggaz in the struggle, you know what I'm sayin'?

Uh-ha, it's all good baby bay-bee, uh

It was all a dream
I used to read Word Up magazine
Salt'n'Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine
Hangin' pictures on my wall
Every Saturday Rap Attack, Mr. Magic, Marley Marl
I let my tape rock 'til my tape popped
Smokin' weed and bamboo, sippin' on private stock
Way back, when I had the red and black lumberjack
With the hat to match
Remember Rappin' Duke, duh-ha, duh-ha
You never thought that hip hop would take it this far
Now I'm in the limelight 'cause I rhyme tight
Time to get paid, blow up like the World Trade
Born sinner, the opposite of a winner
Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner
Peace to Ron G, Brucey B, Kid Capri
Funkmaster Flex, Lovebug Starsky
I'm blowin' up like you thought I would
Call the crib, same number same hood
It's all good

9Uh, and if you don't know, now you know, nigga, uh0

You know very well, who you are
Don't let em' hold you down, reach for the stars
You had a go, but not that many
'cause you're the only one, I'll give you good and plenty

I made the change from a common thief
To up close and personal with Robin Leach
And I'm far from cheap, I smoke skunk with my peeps all day
Spread love, it's the Brooklyn way
The Moet and Alize keep me pissy
Girls used to diss me
Now they write letters 'cause they miss me
I never thought it could happen, this rappin' stuff
I was too used to packin' gats and stuff
Now honies play me close like butter played toast
From the Mississippi down to the east coast
Condos in Queens, indo for weeks
Sold out seats to hear Biggie Smalls speak
Livin' life without fear
Puttin' 5 karats in my baby girl's ears
Lunches, brunches, interviews by the pool
Considered a fool 'cause I dropped out of high school
Stereotypes of a black male misunderstood
And it's still all good

Uh...
(it's all good nigga)
and if you don't know, now you know, nigga

You know very well, who you are
Don't let em' hold you down, reach for the stars
You had a go, but not that many
'cause you're the only one, I'll give you good and plenty

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis
When I was dead broke, man I couldn't picture this
50 inch screen, money green leather sofa
Got two rides, a limousine with the chauffeur
Phone bill about two G's flat
No need to worry, my accountant handles that
And my whole crew is loungin'
Celebratin' every day, no more public housin'
Thinkin' back on my one-room shack
Now my mom pimps a Ac' with minks on her back
And she loves to show me off, of course
Smiles every time my face is up in The Source
We used to fuss when the landlord dissed us
No heat, wonder why Christmas missed us
Birthdays was the worst days
Now we sip champagne when we thirst-ay
Uh, damn right I like the life I live
'Cause I went from negative to positive
And it's all...

(It's all good)

You know very well, who you are
Don't let em' hold you down, reach for the stars
You had a go, but not that many
'cause you're the only one, I'll give you good and plenty

...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga, uh
Uh, uh...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga
Uh...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga, uh

Representin' B-Town in the house, Junior Mafia, mad flavor, uh
Uh, yeah, a-ight

Biggie Smalls, it's all good nigga
Junior M.A.F.I.A.,
It's all good nigga, Bad Boy
It's all good
that's right, 94'
and on and on
and on and on
It's all good
yeah

The Cranberries--Dreams

Oh my life
Is changing everyday
In every possible way

And Oh my dreams
It's never quiet as it seems
Never quiet as it seems

I know I've felt like this before
But now I'm feeling it even more
Because it came from you

And then I open up and see
The person falling here is me
A different way to be
La
I want more (impossible to ignore)
I want more (impossible to ignore)

And they'll come true (impossible not to do)
And they'll come true (impossible not to do)

And now I tell you openly
You have my heart so don't hurt me
You're what I couldn't find

A totally amazing mind
So understanding and so kind
You're everything to me

*sigh*...
