OTTAWA -- The Chinese government is accusing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of being naive in assuming that President Donald Trump did him any favours by raising the case of two imprisoned Canadians with President Xi Jinping.

Geng Shuang, a spokesman for China's foreign ministry, was talking Friday about Trudeau's comment a day earlier in Toronto, where he said he was "confident" Trump raised the matter with Xi at the G20 summit in Japan this past weekend.

First, it shouldn't be so naive as to believe that asking its so-called ally to pressure China will work. China is a country with the rule of law and the judicial authorities handle cases independently. China's judicial sovereignty brooks no interference.

"Second, it shouldn't be so naive as to believe that its so-called ally will earnestly pursue a Canadian agenda. They will only pay a lip service, at best. The matter is, after all, between China and Canada."

'Naive' Canada shouldn't believe Trump asked Xi about Kovrig, Spavor: China

Doesn't look like Trudeau/Freeland are getting much respect, and they're not even thinking about those drug smugglers that are going to get shot via firing squad.

Look who's back, back again...

Butts is back. Now the question is whether he can renew Trudeau, too
Campbell Clark: “The fact that Mr. Butts is back on Team Trudeau after the SNC-Lavalin affair is a symbol of the big question the Liberals face: Can Mr. Trudeau get past the sense of disillusionment and disappointment that many voters who once supported him seem to feel. Can Gerry Butts help Justin Trudeau get his mojo back?”

Liberals quash probe into government’s calls to ex-ambassadors to China

The governing Liberals used their majority power to quash a motion calling for summer parliamentary hearings into why Canada’s foreign ministry called two former diplomats to caution them to avoid contradictory public messaging on China and why they were told this was at the behest of the Prime Minister’s Office. This request followed reporting by The Globe and Mail .

Erin O’Toole, the Conservative vice-chair of the Commons committee on foreign affairs and international development, as well as Guy Caron, the NDP vice-chair, had made a formal request for the committee to be convened during the summer break. They and other opposition MPs wanted the committee to examine whether the Trudeau government applied “undue pressure” on the former envoys. The motion was voted down five to four on Tuesday, with the Liberals voting against and the opposition members voting in favour.

What does Scheer have to do to win
Stop sending weak SMS for one. Kenney would seem the more obvious immediate competition for Trudeau, and he has a much stronger base than Ford... Both Preston Manning and Stephen Harper were both Alberta-origin....

Well, Trudeau is sorry, and not sorry about having to deal with Harper's crap with SNC-Lavalin.

That shit goes back a million years ago. Now they're trying to get out of the 407 for a bag of pucks. Who cares. SNC.

Might as well go for the side-talking, over-breeding, homophobic, sky-fairy touting son-of-a-Deacon, eh?

Wouldn’t expect anything more or less from you, Sally.
