yes I heard this as well, it's a waste of time even reading the article and the comparison is insulting to say the least.

Forgive me if I don't put a lot of credence in being compared to a Nazi by a newspaper in a State that upheld Jim Crow laws as late as 1958.

meh...whatever...the american's have been bigging themselves up for years...they would have done and HAVE done the same. during the olympics that the usa held it was not all about the brotherhood of atheletes. it was about USA getting gold and dominating.

This article is too ridiculous to warrant any effort.

  7. Nazi comparisons are symptoms of lazy, talentless writing. He's a small time wannabe Rush Limbaugh, so I would expect a ton of exaggeration and hyperbole.

If anyone cares, I wrote this to the chief editor of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

Forgive me if I don't put a terrible amount of credence or justification towards being compared to a Nazi by a writer from a state that upheld Jim Crow laws as late as 1958.

Americans are often unjustly criticised for their ignorance of other cultures but as this fire gains more fuel, your newspaper will have the unfortunate stigma of further prepetuating that notion. And this "journalist" and any editors that allowed this rediculous article to go to print will be viewed by the world as chief bafoons of an already questionably ethical media.

Everything is bigger in Texas... clearly intelligence is exempt and idiocy & ignorance is not.

And this is the response I recieved:

    Dear Mr. Campbell:
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my column.
I'd like to personally apologize to you for using the 1936 Berlin
Olympics analogy in trying to make my point. It was a poor choice
    and I regret it.
Our newspaper's latest apology is online and will run in tomorrow morning's paper.
There were many exciting and memorable moments in the Vancouver
Olympics, and I hope these are the ones that will linger when the
cheers of those three weeks finally fade.
    Best wishes to you.
