A lot of US presidents were pretty awful.

Reagan
Carter
Ford (though... no one voted for him)
Nixon
Johnson
Kennedy (although he was rather benign)
Eisenhower
Truman
Roosevelt

not at all. Even if he lost the election this year, he'd still have to be rated ahead of Carter, Ford, his father, and depending on your view of criminality, Nixon.

This is Great I'm sending this to My grandmother right away
She lives in good old middle America IOWA and is a Bush supporter. This past Holidays I had a discussion with her on
her President after she informed me AND GET THIS that she no longer watches CNN news but Fox Net News because she believes CNN bashes Bush to much. This of course started a huge conversation into the wee hours of the morning about politics and the American Government. God bless my Grandmother the sweetiest little lady but woman your country has brainwashed you. :)

Carter did do some dumb things, but he did them in a way that cost him a second term. He was really tight with the Shaw, most of reagan's military buildup was because of Carter, and oh, he listened to Brzezinski. BUT CLEARLY not anywhere as near as bad as Reagan or the Bushies.

some of these choices seem completely random...which Roosevelt are you talking about? how was Johnson a bad President? I guess a case can be made against FDR but Johnson? he accomplished more BEFORE he became pres than most presidents do while in office...

and how are you judging "worst president ever?" domestically? economically? internationally? some presidents combined great qualities and terrible qualites (Nixon, Wilson, Lincoln, A. Johnson, Grant), and as a result accomplished great things while doing incredible damage in other areas...it's a completely pointless and subjective exericise.

but having said that, Harding and Buchanan both have horrible presidential records, one for corruption and one for allowing secession...they would have to be mentioned in any list of worsts.

my list was those "in my lifetime" (1970-present)
Based on accomplishments/lack there of with respect to their vision (not based on whether I or you agree with their agenda or not) and how they handled crises, as well as integrity to the office.
Otis and Boss Hog, when someone makes a controversial statement, the onus is on them to back it up. My statement would pretty much be conventional wisdom - given that you seem to be implying that Ford and Carter were effective presidents, which goes against the view of about 99% of objective observers (even the majority of Democrats would argue against the latter, Camp David aside, having anything but a miserable term), the onus is on you, not me, to pony up.

I admire Carter greatly - this isn't about who's smarter, who's the better humanitarian, who I'd rather vote for, etc.
