Bush authorized Libby to leak Plame's name

The smoking gun has just broke with a posting detailing how Libby told a Grand Jury in 2003 that Bush authorized the leak of Valerie Plame to the media.

I'm not sure if anything will ever come over this, but how many more impeachable offenses will Bush have to commit before even his own party turns on him like they did on Nixon. At the very least, this will weaken Bush and his political machine and hopefully be the start of some serious change in Novemember with the mid-term elections.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/06042006...ntelligence-data-iraq-former-cheney-aide.html

WASHINGTON (AP) - President George W. Bush was the one who authorized the leak of sensitive intelligence information about Iraq, according to court papers filed by prosecutors in the CIA leak case. The papers quoted Vice-President Dick Cheney's former top aid, Lewis Libby.

Before his indictment, Libby testified to the grand jury investigating the Valerie Plame leak that Cheney told him to pass on the information and that it was Bush who had authorized the leak, the court papers say.

According to the documents, the authorization led to the July 8, 2003, conversation between Libby and New York Times reporter Judith Miller.

There was no indication in the filing that either Bush or Cheney authorized Libby to specifically disclose Plame's CIA identity.

But the disclosure in documents filed Wednesday indicate that the president and the vice-president put Libby in play as a secret provider of information to reporters about prewar intelligence on Iraq.

The authorization came as the Bush administration faced mounting criticism about its failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the main reason the president and his aides had given for justifying the invasion of Iraq.

Libby's participation in a critical conversation with Miller on July 8, 2003 "occurred only after the vice-president advised defendant that the president specifically had authorized defendant to disclose certain information in the National Intelligence Estimate," the papers by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald stated.

The filing did not specify the "certain information."

"Defendant testified that the circumstances of his conversation with reporter Miller - getting approval from the president through the vice-president to discuss material that would be classified but for that approval - were unique in his recollection," the papers added.

This is what I'd like to know. How many times can this guy fuck up HUGE and have it blow over so easily? Everything from the intelligence failures that led to Sept 11th, the ruined economy, an endless war on an unknown enemy and an invasion that has proven to be initiated on flat out lies.

It seems like at this point you could get video footage of Bush actually eating babies by the handful and he'd still get the support of his country because "he has family values" and "it's a time of war and we have to stand behind the president".

"Transvestites for Bush"

See if we get a couple thousand transvestites to start arguing on behalf of bush the war and his progressive thinking the average racist uneducated joe american six pack will dump his ass faster than his sixteen year old pregnant mistress neighbor. All of our troubles can be solved with the help of transvestites.

^^^ S. Chronic

It's crazy, people are still gathering more and more evidence and proof that he's a shady shady president. It's almost a waste of time, either go with what you got or just accept the fact that he's here to stay. You don't need anymore evidence to build your case around him. There's not much left for him to do to make him impeacheable.

NOthing surprises me anymore with this guy.

How is it a failure when they got massive funding increases and justification for wars that were already planned?

prediction: bush states that as president he had the authority to declassify the information pertaining to plame. As a result his 'legal' declassification allows him to sidestep any formal legal proceedings and furthermore allows libby to walk with nothing other than the perjury charge.

Republican congress further distances themselves from Bush.

The public forgets it ever happened.

Hope: Democrats successfully capitalize on this loathsome, although legal course of action for the upcoming elections and gain a house majority. Yeah right.

Since the Republicans turned on Nixon, they have enjoyed five terms in office against the Democrats three.

Condoleeza Rice vs. Hilary R. Clinton!

Yikes!

Doesnt' anyone see the funny paralleles between Bush and his administration and Chancellor Palpatine and the Senate on star wars?

More appropriately, Episode III and Bush trying to stay in office some more by getting "Special Powers" due to War Time?

And the secretive controlling of just about everything to cause doubt and take control...

hehehe.. crazyness.

maybe Carl Rove = George Lucas

lucas is the mastermind behind some of the best movie makeup ever, so he could easily disguise himself to look like Rove.

really people, it all makes way to much sense.

I found the starwars movies became more and more blatant political jabs.

A personal favorite line is when Natalie Portman turns to young Anican and asks "how do you know we are fighting for the right side?"
