Brown-bagging it.

Ever time I bring lunch for myself, I still can't resist buying something to go with it. I have no self-control. I don't know if it's cause I'm bored with house food, or if it's cause I must spend.

Do you guys brown-bag it? And how do you do it? Or do you buy every day?

Ming.

I do both.
Brown bag it when I can and buy when I can.

I buy a treat sometimes.. when I bring a lunch too, depends on how much I bring and how hungry I am that day.

I've tried brown baggin.. but if I got money.. I'm buying lunch. Money burns a hole in my pockets.. I have to spend it all before it get too hot.

Ok, I just finished eating two McDonald's cheeseburgers.. even though I brought a nice fresh steak sandwich for myself today! I totally feel your pain on this one. There are so many lunch places around here that I just can't resist going out to grab something.

For me, I think it has to do with the fact that I brown bagged it for 17 years (Kindergarten - End of University), and now that I'm actually making good money I just want to buy my lunch, dammit!!

It really is a waste of money though..

i brown bag it most days since going out every day gets a little pricey. although i don't have a brown bag, it's a Sears Special Occasions Gift Registry bag. i usually buy a michealangelo's microwave dish and yogurt and granola bar and something else.

sometimes i'll do a half-and-half; bring some food with the intent of picking up something to go with it.

Me too - I brown bagged it all the time this summer. I worked until midnite every Friday and Saturday (And Wednesday for the Limelight folk). So I'd brown bag couple of big cans of heineken walking on my way to the bar

The thought of eating home-food out of home sucks. I don't know what it is, I just can't resist. I hate making stuff, I don't have time to start cooking. And I don't think PB & J sammiches would do the trick. I'd prolly end up throwing them away.

I am doomed...

i brown bagged it most days (or actually cow bagged it in my official cow spotted / milk lunch bag

) , but lately i've been eating out more & more...

in the downtown core there are some really good deals...

pumpernickels in by tower (bce) has great lunch options...cajun chicken wrap & their tuna wraps are favourites...

marche express...didn't realize the marche in bce was express until a few minutes ago (w/ gizmo), as i had been going to the eaton ctr location...good, quick lunch specials...

there is a soup place on bay which has great deals...i just can't remember the name right now...

restaurant up in first canadian place (which has the best food court around) at the top of the escalators...has great stir frys...a little pricy for lunch everyday, but worth the trip...

salad king...up by ryerson...a bit of a walk & you have to get there b4 12...excellent thai food...

& of course all the food court regular spots...

packing lunches is such a noble, yet highly impossible concept for me. Tried it when i got sick and tired of food court fare, but i wasn't diligent enough to make it a habit.

Even when I *did* bring lunch, i ended up spending money on other things...coffee, muffins, fruit salads, pints..etc.

I don't think I've eaten home made food for lunch in over eight years.

I won't even eat an apple unless it's stored in a McDonalds container.

bringing lunches is the one thing i have been pretty consistent with lately.
i just cook extra food for dinner and take it with me the next day.
it's meant saving almost 40 bucks a week on food.. plus i get to control what i eat instead of getting tempted with junk food.

What are you doing? This is like waving candy at a baby, like smoking in front of a smoker, like offering crack to a recovering crack-head.

You're not helping.

i used to get subway 3 or 4 times a week and noodles or mcdicks or wraps the rest of the time, but i was spending $40-$50 dollars on lunch every week. as part of my effort to eat healthier and save money i have made and brought my lunch for the past week or so.

it was wierd, on thursday i looked in my wallet and noticed that the $60 i took out of the bank on monday was still there.

i was impressed.
