breaks mc

i have a couple freinds who expressed intrest in mcing alongside some breaks, be it playing out or making a tape...

ive only heard a breaks set avec mc once...those guys from bc who played at breakfest around september, and thought it sounded good. maybe it got a wee bit old after a while, but thats easy enough to fix, just keep it to a minimum.
its all about that jafakin accent too...

i think id like to hear more of this.

im just curious as to how other people feel about mcs with breaks, or breaks with mcs before i venture into this realm:

I think that's a good Idea!!!

It's would only work with sombody well versed in the sound of breaks. I don't think you could just throw on a jungle MC and expect good results.

they need to know the tunes.

Its not done cause nobody can do it properly.

I've heard only 2 mc's that can spit to breaks and not take away from the music.
The boys from out west being one of them.

I've heard it done well only once.
oddly enough it was back at a Hullabaloo when DJ Knocturnal was spinning, and E-By-Gum just jumped on the mic and busted out a few rhymes and stopped, so it was brief and not overbearing.
I've heard that Bandit is the one Toronto mc worthy of mcing to breaks (I think it actually said that on a PurePhunk flyer - or some set with D-Monic at least).
I could see this because he mc's for Rewind Crew, and garage has the breakbeat influence.

but honestly, I say just stay clear.
breaks is not something we need to corrupt with someone's ramblings on a mic.

MCs sucks fat ass. They ruined jungle and I'll be damned if I let them come into our scene and ruin it. If they like to hear their voice so much then let them go call someone who fuckin cares. MCs are lame. thats why we have vocals in our tracks. To stop MCs from blabbering over top.

jeremy -MC = Master of crappy- jive

Preach on brother!!
*disclaimer* - if done TASTEFULLY, an MC can be a nice addition - eg. MC Bandit on D-Monic's set this summer - didn't overpower, just enough to hypoe it up a touch, and also, I wouldn't want to see an MC EVERY set, but it's a nice change of pace here and there.

I to agree that mc's suck, but i did once see dj icee at some delirum party and mc moose was going over top of him and it sounded pretty good, although i wouldn't want the breaks scene be killed by mc's either. I mean the one of the only reasons i don't go out to jungle events is because i don't want to listen to the mc talk shit.
just my 2 cents

MC's for breaks is only okay once and a while ... and only if it's done properly ... like MC Bandit or MC Sweat (I think that's the name of the guy who was here in the summer from BC)
MC's to UKG though ... well that's another story
Some of those guys are seriously sick

MCing is for attention whores who can't afford turntables. (As opposed to us sophisticated attention whores, who do have tables

see i know this guy in guelph, Noah 23, and hes got like a really metaphysical style, talking about virouses and computer, spacey stuff. say durring like a nu school/electroish set...run him through some effects (like a kaos pad perhaps), and just keep it kinda quiet. sorta like what slim did with his sax...wasnt over powering at all.

That sounds kinda cool. Especially over a minimal or electro set. Kinda like a green velvet thing, but more spacey? I like.

Ive herd him spit at a mutual friends house, hes really quick and most of the words he uses are like 4 syllable, His flow doest seam to mesh well with breaks.
