it is the MOST embarrasing thing ever....

I just went for a walk to the local shoppers drug mart to buy sunscreen, dressed in shorts and a tank top to try to catch as much sun as possible, and the amount of nasty boys and men that honked was ridiculous.

I now realize maybe I shouldn't wear cottage clothes in the city (maybe just a parka!!). Regardless, I implore all you guys out there that actually HONK at girls, not to, because it's very embarrassing and it makes me mad!!!....

(I'm done my rant now).

adios

Honk If You're Horny

What about all the girls who walk around dressed like that and don't get honked at ........................... now they feel even worse.

I don't approve of the behaviour either nor do I practice it but come on it could be worse!

I don't necessarily get embarrassed as much as I get annoyed.

Like they've never seen a chick in a tanktop and shorts before.

I especially get a kick out of the guys that feel the need to sqeal their tires and crank their radio while staring you down & honking.

Every once in a while when I drive by a construciton site I'll honk my horn and yell out the window. It doesn't seem to bug them the same way ;)

I remember going to a 'take back the night' demonstration a few years ago and one of the chant was "However we dress, wherever we go, yes means yes and no means no" . It's sad but women CAN'T wear whatever they want without feeling like a piece of meat. It never used to bother me to get whistled at or honked at, I was actually somewhat flattered, until I stopped to think about it and saw it starting to happen to my little sister.

It's demeaning, and embarassing.

everyone has responded in a very *mature way to what was a serious situation!

getting hassled on the street is no fun....makes you feel uncomfortable and irritated, sometimes even intimidated.

what gets me is do these guys really think that by honking and yelling stuff at me, that's going make me wanna stop, get their phone numbers and date them???!! not a good way to approach women, boyz:rolleyes:

mcbee, don't take it so seriously

you are fully within your right to ignore them

if the honking progresses to rude comments, that's one thing, but a honk is rather harmless; it's a manifestation of the honkors desire to communicate to the honkee that she is someone who would be worthy of mating; it's basically the closest thing we have to a mating call

it's natural it's non intrusive and i know many women including many strrong willed women who will take it with a smile and as a compliment

Must try new strategy, hmmmmm....;)

All silliness aside, guys who do this need to something similar done to them, I guarantee they would feel the same way.

honking's not my worry.

it's when the cars slow down and start following you that pisses me off. I once walked AROUND my block just to avoid them finding out where I live.

It only needs to happen once and they'll honk for the rest of their lives.

you mean well Chris, but I have to disaggree with you. until men are attacked and intimidated the way women are, they will not feel threatened or embarrassed the way a woman can feel when a guy follows her or make comments at her! honking falls under this category too!!

adios
