Shit's about to get real in the AL Beast. Wonder if the Jays, Red Sox and Orioles will cannibalize each other so only the winner will make the playoffs.

Loving this pennant race! The Jays have won 9 of their past 14 series (some bad losses in there), and they need to keep winning. 9 series left, and only 3 are against sub .500 teams (Tampa twice and a 4-gamer vs. the Angels, who just took 2/3 against them).

3 more vs. Baltimore and 6 against Boston and the Yankees. Final nine games are going to be intense - NYY/BAL at home and then travel to BOS.

Who do you have making the post season? I think it will stay the same as today -- TOR/BOS in some order, with CLE/DET and TEX...

That was quite a 9th inning.

Why don't teams bunt when they're down one run with man on third with good speed with only one out? I think it would be a tough play for the defending team.

I'd bet the 'nerds who destroyed baseball' probably weighed historic success rate of the squeeze play and determined an out was more valuable.

Pretty sure I saw Maddon have the Cubs do this at least once this season with success.

Wow - how badly have the Jays crashed and burned since my last post on Sept. 1? 3 and 12 since - with basically a full, healthy lineup (other than JD). Season isn't over but they are playing themselves right out of the playoffs. Pretty disappointing after last September where they were red hot. Baseball makes no sense sometimes...

They need to rip off a few sweeps, stat!

That game was garbage.

Jays need some right handed hitting, and a middle relief bullpen in the off-season (Joey Votto if he wants to play at home maybe)...

Just because you have more pitchers doesn't mean you have to use them all. Why is Aaron Loup in MLB baseball?

Jays situational hitting has been atrocious as well. Not bunting to move runners and always trying to swing for the fences. Always leaving runners on base.

The Jays season isn't over. They've been really shit in September, but they have 6 games left vs. BAL and BOS, and a 4-gamer vs the Yankees (owe them a sweep)! If they can win today and then go 6 and 4 in the last 10, that should be enough to make the wild card.

All they need to do is get in a wild-card game and then anything can happen. Baseball is dumb. They can get hot and become the team nobody wants to play. They just need to start hitting consistently (like yesterday).

I want more playoff baseball.

I think if the Jays can win 5 of their remaining games they should make it. Don't think the Oriels will be able to hang on. Lots of road games for them and they're not very good on the road. I see the Astros and Tigers battling for the final spot.

I just bumped into Stroman, Travis, Goins and a tall white reliever at What a Bagel on Spadina. Told them, "You got this!" They just stared back at me with blank looks on the faces - only Stro said, "Thanks, man."

Good sign/bad sign?
