Is MLB the only game in town at $25 a month?

A guy at work mentioned something about getting an Android box or some shit. Then you can access posted accounts and watch the game for free using my VLC media player. My eyes were kinda glazed over by the time he finished explaining the process.

Is this really a thing and has anyone done this successfully?

MLB At Bat is the only game in town since MLB was smarter than other pro leagues and entirely monopolized Internet-based access to its games. For $25 a month, you only get audio. For $130, you can livestream games except the Jays, which are blacked out across Canada. It's to protect local broadcasters.

Couldn't tell you about the Android box since I mixed up router with proxy.

I've had no problems using online streaming sites for Jays games (but I live abroad). The most reliable one that I've been using lately is vipbox.tv .

I do not understand why MLB and other leagues even bother with blackouts now. People -- well a not insignificant number of people who are far more technologically literate than I could ever be -- are always finding ways around it.

because they get the best of both worlds - sales to both the individual, and the sales to the cable distributors.

Ouch that last point

Anthopoulos deserves an 'A' for Jays' 2010 draft performance
In recent years, I've written and talked a lot about the brilliance of the Cardinals' 2009 draft. The team's bounty that year included Shelby Miller (first round), Joe Kelly (third), Matt Carpenter (13th), Trevor Rosenthal (21st) and Matt Adams (23rd).
Well, it's time to consider a new entry in the "Best Recent Draft" category: The Blue Jays' 2010 haul in Alex Anthopoulos' first draft as general manager. Two of their picks that year will be among the six rookies on the Jays' Opening Day roster.
The Jays had seven of the first 80 selections in '10 due to free-agent departures and the failure to sign a pick, left-hander, James Paxton, the previous year. They had drawn industry-wide attention by dramatically increasing the size of their scouting staff. And even though they whiffed on their first choice at No. 11 overall, Georgia Tech right-hander Deck McGuire, they hit on a bunch of others, including several high school pitchers --€“ the highest-risk category in the draft.

Consider the Jays' best picks, a number of whom were used in trades that helped form the current major-league roster:
*Right-hander Aaron Sanchez, Barstow (Calif.) H.S., No. 34 overall. Sanchez, the Jays' No. 2 prospect according to Baseball America, will open the season in the team's rotation.
*Right-hander Noah Syndergaard, Legacy H.S., Mansfield, Texas, No. 38 overall. Syndergaard, part of the trade that brought R.A. Dickey to Toronto, is the Mets' No. 1 prospect.
*Right-hander Asher Wojciechowski, The Citadel, No. 41 overall. Wojciechowski was sent to the Astros in a 10-player trade that helped the Jays land J.A. Happ, who ultimately brought them Michael Saunders. He will be in the Astros' rotation to start the season.
*Left-hander Justin Nicolino, University (Fla.) H.S., second round. Nicolino, part of the blockbuster that brought Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle to Toronto, is the Marlins' No. 3 prospect.
*Right-hander Sam Dyson, University of South Carolina, fourth round. Dyson, lost to the Marlins on a waiver claim in Jan. 2013, has made 38 appearances in the majors over the past three seasons, all but one as a reliever, with a 4.02 ERA.
*Left-hander Sean Nolin, San Jacinto College, sixth round. Nolin, part of the trade that brought Josh Donaldson to Toronto, is the Athletics' No. 8 prospect.
*Outfielder Dalton Pompey, John Fraser (Ont.) H.S., 16th round. Pompey will open the season as the Jays' starting center fielder.
The Jays in 2010 also drafted a high-school third baseman out of Las Vegas in the 18th round, but that player chose to attend the University of San Diego instead.
His name: Kris Bryant.

Let me try this again.

They need him to have an era around 3 or lower, pitch 200+ innings, have run support, and the team win 19-22 of his starts if they are going to compete in the weak American league east.

Based on what? Even if the Jays got that out of Hutchison last year, they still wouldn't have won the AL East. There are a lot more factors in play other than the games that Hutchison will start.

Holy fuck dude. Serious?

Of course there are tons of other factors. it is after all 162 game schedule.

When 99 percent of your posts are just post to disagree with whom ever it is. Your posts lose value.

I'll agree when someone makes a point that can be backed up with evidence. I'll agree that 200 IP is realistic for Hutchison given that he got to 184.2 IP last year coming off of Tommy John surgery. Happy? Is your day that much brighter now, my little buckaroo? Otherwise, don't say dumb shit like Hutchison has to do X, Y, and Z for the Jays to win the division.

All that is left is to laugh.you miss the whole point. Which leaves having an actually conversation/discussion with you moot.

His being a main piece of the puzzle to this season is a fact.
Hey perhaps he wins 8 games with a 5 era and the jays end up under .500

If he did have the season i hope he does this year, last year they win the wildcard. And or a game out anyhow.lll

The jays have shit pitching they're going nowhere, who cares about the bats, the teams with real pitching will shut them down

Less than cable

I put up an HD antenna a couple years ago for network channels over the air, and subbed to the leagues direct for sports. the good thing with the proxy is you can shift it to find a deal.

The thing with the MLB sub is, the price you pay in year one is locked in, so whenever they raise it, as long as you do not cancel, you pay the same cost each season.
