BLACKALICIOUS

Groundbreaking rap crew to perform at exclusive record release show in Toronto
On the eve of the release of their fourth album, west coast crew
Blackalicious travel to Toronto to celebrate their major-label debut, with an exclusive and intimate (and last-minute) show at The Bamboo.
Started in 1991, Blackalicious is made up MC Gift Of Gab and Chief Xcel, who met while attending John F Kennedy High School in Sacramento, California. The newly-formed group became a part of the Solesides crew, whose membership included DJ Shadow and Latryx and with the 1999 release of their full-length debut album "Nia", the group cemented a loyal following throughout North America and Europe. The album, which went on to sell over 100,000 units, established the group as one of the bay area's most important hip-hop groups. After signing with MCA/Universal in 2000 the group began work on their follow-up to "Nia"
The result is "Blazing Arrow"; "Nia was forethought and Blazing Arrow is action" says Gab. The album features guest spots from Chali 2na (Jurassic 5), Rakaa (Dilated Peoples), Jaguar Wright, Lateef, Zach de la Rocha, Saul Williams and Gil Scott-Heron. Now in their tenth year, Blackalicious is just hitting their stride. With the release of "Blazing Arrow", they have achieved their most fully realized album in a consistently groundbreaking discography. Says Xcel, "the aim has always been to contribute our piece to
this movement, to this continuum, because there really is no beginning or end to it."
