Bikini Waxes?

Alright ladies, I've done this one once or twice before with in retrospect HORRIBLE results. I have incredibly sensitive skin, and the bumpy red spots and blah after having wax poured on and hair ripped out is NOT worth reminiscing over. Hover, my hope and faith in the art of bikini waxing has recently been reknewed and as I'm in Toronto fairly soon, I definetly want to do one up before hitting the beachesi n Thailand.

Any recommendations? Advice? locations? Experiences?

Anything. For the love of god ANYTHING.

:D

Buy TendSkin. (available at most waxing places, if not, just ask the aesthetician about it)

Apply Tendskin immediately after waxing, and 2-3x a day until spots clear.

go to a laser removal center
4/5 sessions and it will be gone forever
it is suppose to be much better for sensitive skin.

(plus there is no nasty grow out period :))

my old roommate goes to this little romanian lady near her work...apparently she does a great job.

the most hilarious about it tho, is that whenever you arrive for an appointment, the lady says with her accent and a slight giggle "you here for the torture??!!'

The spa has two different waxes and one is gentler than the kind used with strips
Plus we have this stuff that helps with the redness, ingrowns etc,
called Tend skin I think.

you would die with brazilian btw
hahahaha

^^^^the name Renata sounds familiar but i think my roommate goes to somewhere in Yorkville.

Definately use the Tender skin thing, or witch hazel right after and as required.

You may also want to ask the esthetician to turn down the wax a little before you get there, I find super hot wax definately pulls off more skin and makes for more ingrowns in the long run.

BUT on the good side, if you wax often enough, the ingrown rate/bumps gets much lower. I never get them anymore.

The more you do it, the less bumps & ingrown hair you get.

Glycerin, Water, and Aspirin mixed in a cup, apply with a cotton ball, should sooth and prevent all that.

allrightie...

I've been brazilian waking for about 2 years now, and I'm telling you once you start youre hooked. I've even turned two good friends on to it... and neither of them regret it at all.

The first time is the most painful, each time after that gets easier and easier. I can promise you that.

Usually you have to be a bit 'interactive' i.e. holding an area taught etc. but there is no need to be squimish. Really, it takes 15-20 minutes and than you're done. The first time I was rather tender for a few days after but again that doesn't happen anymore.

Libradragon recommended me to see her lady Renate, and she was the most gentle and least painful out of the three places I have gone. I would suggest going to her if you are on a budget ($25). if you really want to make it easy and if money isn't a big deal go somewhere swanky where they really pamper you and use that wax that doesn't require the strips... far far less painful. Again, if you don't mind spending $50-60 I would go to a spa and get it done the first time and than maybe go see Renate after- since it will never hurt as much as the first time.

finally, yes it hurts like a bitch, but it's totally worth it!!

hope that helps, I'm too hungover right now to write more coherently, but if I think of anything else I'll let you know

I'm not sure about bikini
but I know underarms is $100/per session and it takes 3-5 sessions (so probably about the same??).
still you figure $300/500 and its gone FOREVER!!
if you're waxing and shaving it doesn't take long to make that $$ up.
not to mention convenience - no more shaving - imagine
oooooohhhh aaaaaaahhhh :D!!

<-- hates shaving too!!

can you get laser hair removal over a tattooed area? would it damage the tat?

<--- needs to know, not that he can afford it.

Hey Cheeka,

Have you done the laser method?
Can you say from experience that the hairs WON'T grow back?
If that is true, then perhaps that method albeit expensive, might be a good solution in the long run!

I want to get rid of the hairs in the bikini area.

Dislike shaving too! :p

The thought of all the Tribe Hawties getting Waxed is somewhat exciting if you ask me.

Maybe you should make it a group activity...

So for a brazillian for the first time it's really better to go to a swanky place? what is this wax that doesn't require strips that you speak of?
