that old mixmag one will always bring back good memories, but that's more nostalgia than anything.

Still one of my favorite CDs. Mixing is shit really. It almost is as if he just faded between tracks at times. BUT the track selection is so friggin good you don't give a shit. The only other CD that comes close is the Bliss Ultrasonic Mix 1 CD. Maybe Terry Mullan's Mixed not Stirred is close too though.

Nothing says lovin' like those old tracky and bloopy, chicago inspired, minimal jack tracks. Nothin!

the mixmag one is the best.

in re: the mixing - sections of it were recorded live, so maybe the editing in those two parts aren't up to Rich's standard.

i don't think the mixing is shit - lots of the transitions are short cuts, but that's kind of how detroit techno was DJed then. lots of tracks are only in there for a minute or so, but it all makes sense.
there's that one long trainwreck in the middle, but it sounds kind of intentional, and always fucked me up when i was on acid and listening to it.

I know the mix you're talking about... don't think it's a train wreck, it's off beat with delay and it sounds wonky as fuck... but not off beat...
