stax at filmforce just posted his review of the new batman script and all i can say is, holy good fucking reviews, batman!

FTWdon'tK, stax is the most reliable source of fanboy movie information on the internet. his script reviews are informative, fair and accurate.

here is the review for those who want to read it: http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/496/496077p1.html?fromint=1
(careful reading as it contains some minor spoilers.)

it seems that warner bros. may be FINALLY making the movie that real batman fans have been waiting to see for the last 20 or so years. the story itself sounds like a cross between 'year one', 'year two' and 'birth of the demon'.

instead of bruce learning his martial arts from a number of expert teachers throughout asia, the writers have instead chosen to give bruce a single teacher, played by liam neeson.

ra's al ghul is played by ken watanabe from 'the last samurai' which is a very interesting choice.

the entire main cast now consists of christian bale (as bruce wayne a.k.a. the batman), michael caine (as alfred pennyworth), liam neeson (as ducard), gary oldman (as commissioner jim gordon), morgan freeman (as lucius fox, c.e.o. of wayne industries), ken watanabe (as ra's al ghul), katie holmes (as rachel dodson) and cillian murphy (as dr. jonathan crane a.k.a. the scarecrow).

release date: summer 2005.

in other news, jerry bruckheimer just bought the rights to make a 'prince of persia' movie.

hard to believe people still think making movies out of video games is a good idea.

it sure sounds like this movie has potential. that's a pretty good cast and the premise sounds promising.

That's great news. I wouldn't label myself a fanboy, especially with Batman(I was into x-men) but this sounds great!

Prince of Persia might not be the most financially sound decision(kind of silly), but it does have potential. The storyline and directing in the PC game was excellent. Of course i'm talking about the new one, and not the old side-scrolling SVGA version. :D

Yeah the Prince of Persia movie was already mentioned in the Video Games thread. Other video games coming to the big screen are Fear Effect, Far Cry, Bloodrayne and Dungeon Siege.

they should've casted Gary Oldman as a Villian... He was so good in the Fifth Element and in Hannibal....

What about Tom Petty as the Scarecrow??? I would offer him a deal do to the Soundtrack for the film as well but the problem with that is he sounds like a scarecrow when he sings... what a heartbreaker....

Saw this last night.

Overall it was a good movie. One of the better movies that Christopher Nolan has directed (yeah i know he's done decent movies in the past, but i thought Insomnia sucked)

Katie Holmes wasn't as bad as i thought she'd be. Christain Bale was perfect as both Bruce Wayne & Batman.

Gotham wasn't as dark as Tim Burton's Gotham.

The story was a staight forward progression of Bruce Wayne to Batman. It was good to see Batman as just a man and make mistakes.

I know! Every time I see that guy in a movie I think, "that shifty bastard is up to something" and I'm usually right.

Same with Gary Sinise. I'm just waiting for them to find out that he's been killing all those people on CSI:NY.

hey keith, glad to hear you liked it.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/batman_begins/

81% approval rating, average of 7.4.

next to 'spider-man 2' and 'X2', that's as good as any comic book movie has done with critics. :)

to be honest, the previews so far have not done much for me. i've been reading batman for as long as i've known how to read, and i think a great deal of the ra's al ghul character, so if it's not handled *perfectly*, i think i'll be disappointed.

According to co-worker:

It's very accurate to the comic book, more so than the Tim Burton version, since the Joker never really killed Bruce Wayne's parents.

I've liked Christian Bale ever since:

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where, uh, Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as, uh, anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your ass. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and, uh, Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
