Back from a Saturday funeral

Well it has been a very sad week here in London for myself and many friends as I have just come back from the funeral for Derek Clements a co-worker of mine who died as a result of injuries from a kick-boxing match he had this week.

Once again as I talk with my friends and such I am reminded that you never know when your number is up... so live life to the fullest.

I just wrote this as a little respect to a very intense and loyal person who is going to be sadly missed by many. And to remind myself and others that life is way too short to waste time on things that don't matter.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

Makes me reconsider my Karate fight in Stratford in 2 weeks....

I hope your weather in London is sunny and that the rest of your weekend goes in a bit of a more upbeat happy way.
Take care,
Dave

You couldn't have said it any better than that.

My condolences to the family :(

my thoughts are with derek clements and his family, and will be for some time. i used to take breakdance classes that my friend would put on in his gym and he would always be there training and chilling... sometimes his kids would be there watching or playing, and you could just tell from his manner that he was a stand-up, humble man.

the whole country is mourning with you jamie... my parents were saddened emmensely when they read about it this morning.

keep your head up jamie, cause he's doing ok in his new life.

It's hard to understand that I'll never see him at Mercury again.
:( He was the boucer when I first started to go to Mercury.
I'm friends with his cousin, and I can't even comprehend what she and the rest of the family are feeling.

My condolences to them all.

May he rest in peace. He will be missed.

The last memory I have is one night at Mercury Lounge a few months ago.. Shane left his record box near the exit just as Mercury was closing for the night...Derek took the box and hid it behind the bar while Shane was in the bathroom.. he came back and began freaking out... it was funny and it made me smile... he seemed to be the joker and smiled a lot of the time I'd see him.

I didn't know Derek personally, but he was a great man and only heard good things. So sad it had to end so soon.
