What's the best way to convert AVI, DIVX, etc. to (S)VCD? The tutorials that I've looked up all require about 3 or 4 different programs to complete this task. Is there a program out there that can do everything and is easy to use?

I have to go to work now and don't know the name of the programs off the top of my head but I do know that a "friend" of mine does this and "he" uses two seperate programs to do it.

two is better then 3 or 4 no ?
I'll get you some info when i get home around noon if you'd like :)

Yup, thats all I use

Use TMPGenc to convert .avi to .mpeg

Then Nero, or anything else and choose VCD with the program

The encoding takes the longest - about the same time as watching the file. ie 45 min show takes 45 mins to encode

Alright. I want to rip MP3's from a DVD source.

Except it's not an actual DVD, it's a ripped version in a format I'm not too familiar with. (VOB & IFO files)

It's a beautiful video of Radiohead live at Glastonbury. Anyone know how to do this?

Sorry..I didn't explain that very well.

I just want to take the audio from the DVD and end up with MP3's.

ya... like soundforge, turn it on press record, then play your dvd and VOILA, you got it recorded.

You could also do a digital rip of the audio, but the quality you get with SF will be near top notch and it's way easier.
