After a lengthy hiatus away from Wavelab and the record button, I decided I wanted to capture some of the inspiration I have been feeling over the past few days. Music is a very personal outlet for my creativity and it is usually a direct representation of my own moods and tastes. Because of this, my record collection is eclectic and diverse, as is the range of sounds I like to play and fuse together.

The mix below is a spontaneous creation that I put together yesterday. Technically, I would say that it is of average quality; I have been a bit loose on the decks lately and it will show in a few parts. However, minor mistakes often make the experience memorable and personal. I would consider the overall tone dark, with occasional influences of quirky funk and deeper techno melodies. It was surprising to me that the mix came out to 2 hours in length.

Looking back on the transitions in this set, I would say there are a few distinct stages (none of which were really intentional): the first occurs when I transition from the samuel l session EP over to son kite, which brings the intensity level down (yet holds to very dark and electric sounds). The second occurs after I lead out of Underworld's "Dark & Long" and into Cherry Bomb's "bursting out" which is a transition from the melodic tracks (12 - 15) into some funkier sounds that slip down into minimal techno, starting with Mighty Math's "experimental child". That's the third transition. Then I suppose the fourth stage occurs when I finally pick up the pace with James Ruskin's untitled track.

I think the last four or five tracks were almost an entirely random selection on my part...I remember digging around in my crates for Aphex Twin's original Digeridoo, but that last track will have to offer as a substitute. Ah well.

In any case, please feel free to download this mix. I would certainly appreciate some feedback, be it critical or otherwise. I realize this mix may not be everyone's cup of tea because of its structure and the wide variety of sounds, but I put it together for myself, not anyone else. ;)

I listened to this thing all the way through in the morning. It's fucking great! A nice spectrum all the way through. It's very listenable and would be perfect for playing at a party/gathering/BBQ/etc. I really liked it.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. :)

I really don't mind hearing criticism of any sort, particularly since I am my own harshest critic. I like the middle part of the set more than the first and last 30 minutes.

I have another mix I threw together just yesterday that I'll probably put up soon...it's considerably more minimal than this one, is only an hour long and has more depth/atmosphere/melody.
