I think it might be his soul that lives in Detroit. But yeah I saw the flyer you're talking about...a little strange, but that's about as much thought as I put into it...

at the labels request, they really wanted to create a pipeline effect by crediting both cities. I couldn't agree with them more.

To be honest, I do love Detroit, but not for the reasons many may think. Food, Culture, People and Arch. brought me to the city to begin with. Funny, most of the emails I've received also thought I was living in Detroit.

i'm still rooted well in the annex ;) not going anywhere for the time being.

plus, they don't have the Victory Cafe in the D. That would be hard to give up.

B. hope you liked the new wax.

yep its all about the marketing, when i played over in europe i was billed that i was from Toronto/Detroit ... i guess Toronto just does not hold its own

but don't you feel 'retarded' representing a city that you're not even from?

I mean... I've loved many places I've been to.... but uhh... when I check my birth certificate.......

carry on.

In a place where everyone has to eat their own. I can't see why not.

actually, I do rep the label for Toronto. It's not really where I'm from, but where the label is based out of.

And sometimes, I do feel a little retarded with one too many Bananna Jax

It's not that we as the techno contigent does not think that Toronto can hold it's own. The public mass at large has issues it, and steamrolls it into something bigger than it needs to be.

fm...not only can Toronto hold it's own, but we've have the tightest group of people putting on amazing events.

We're so rich in talent here, it amazing. From Adam Winick to Vergel/Shamus to this new Drago kid I've been hearing. Even gave a listen to an track from Wayne Hamilton like 10 years ago. Brilliant.

We hold our own. No Question. Toronto Techno does draw. And even if their not high end numbers, it's the hearts and souls of all guys beleiving in ourselves, our city and what we do. It shows and that's whats inspiring about T.O.

phew. ...ok.. back to work.

i did not mean to say we can not hold our own, i agree we have tons of talent but obviosuly we are just not recoqnized yet like say the way Detroit is.

all that will come with time..... we've been at this for years and up until recently I don't think artists really promoted the fact their from toronto... It's easier to say "Detroit techno" since it envokes a pretty specific sort of techno. Just like ppl know what "Chicago house" sounds like. Or Swedish techno.

Toronto just doesn't have an international and easily explainable sound...... yet!

either way, arthur is an amazing talent.his live pas are as good as any i've seen through my years of partying(speedy j included patty);)

this man is finally getting the recognition outside of toronto that he richly deserves.

regardless of what it says on this flyer or another we all need to support what is in our backyard instead of always falling head over heels for international artists, many of whom couldn't hold a candle to the talent in this city.

i just hope we realize this before we lose another quality act to another country.

we all love this music,i hope to see many happy faces getting down to arthur on february 25th.

peace

who is we?
seems to me toronto has always been and I mean as long as I have been listening to electronic music in this city, that we really means:

me and my 5 buddies
this collective but not the other one
us but not them
etc etc etc.......

I say this meaning that promotion companies stick with friends and friends also stick with friends making Toronto in the grander scheme of things tres un-we in my mind. Perhaps this is the un-recognition factor in the city????

bueller?

i agree with dtox on certain points, but we at tempo are attempting to change that.

every, and i mean every, month will have at least one talented dj/live pa act that is lesser known but equally as talented as anyone on the bill.

the first month was lionel dunlop, this month will feature erik lork.

the next months, who knows, but somebody will be there and they will be from the city!
