Are the dark times coming to an end?

I'm starting to notice some changes in house and particularly progressive lately. The tunes seem to be getting lighter and more listener friendly again, which is something that I've been waiting months for. This whole dark and dreary bit is really overdone. Makes for long boring sets that just don't go anywhere.

I swear, 80% of tracks described as "dark", "twisted", or "dirty" can be summed up in one word - "boring".

Sasha and Digweed played some great uplifting stuff, and I would describe Digweed's stuff as more "deep" rather than "dark". His upcoming mix CD "MMII" has been described as beautiful and smooth.. words I'm optimistic about!

So is there a change on the way? Or is this just a summer music thing?

I think good, emotive music has always been there, just what's been thrown down in the clubs has gone along certain lines. I don't think there's anything wrong with dark and twisted, I like it quite a bit, but just like the more emotionally positive stuff, there's crap and there's substantial shit as well.

i don't 'trance' is coming back

but i agree it's time for 'dark prog' to step out of the spotlight for awhile

then again, what do i know ..
i just downloaded the most non-trance/prog cd ever

herbert - secondhand sounds

Anyone hear PVD's set at Mayday? Christ! Uplifting trance, bang on. I loved it. It was weird hearing it. I'm so used to Jimmy Van M and those chaps. It was nice to hear some bass again. Or wait I mean melody! ;)

^ Ya I heard it tonight through streaming video. Amazing. But I was confused, the link said live, but how the fuck did they do that? It was edited, I swear. And Mayday was a on a tuesday night! hah The whole thing is sketch.

But the set PVD spun was fucking sick. If your a trance fan anyways.

it was probably recorded live but on a time delay

what do you mean edited? like for radio ads or something? or that theres no way he could have spun the way he did and used something else - edited?

im still searching for the one track he played last year at around 40-44 minutes into his set, following hardy hard's "do you techno electro" (feat afrika bambaataa)
it rocks
and i have no clue what the name is
the lyrics are just something like "i love westbam he's s bold (?) he's my lover lover love..."
nice epic breakbeat techno electro

^That has to be westbams set man, NOT pvd's.

Edited; ya it had commercials, there was flip flopping between dj's (pvd and felix da housecat), cameras in the crowd, interviews with pvd. Shit like that. It had to of been delayed.

Either way it was funny..

Dad: Aren't you gonna watch the hockey game?
Jon: To me, this is the hockey game.

I *heart* westbam. I've seen him twice - both times in Germany. He fucking owns the crowd.

Hardy Hard is the shit too.
