I think they're just supposed to be rediculously good friends.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Lenny has a wife. sorry homer I'm watching the game...

But then again, he lives in an abandoned house.Don't tell anyone I live like this...

I think that they're just best friends.

in the episode where they did that fake "behind the laughter" documentary, they interveiwed lenny and karl and made a reference to interacialhomoeroticism.

i think it's just a suggestive/ambiguous thing.

who cares, it's just a tv show!

homer- why would a man wearing a shirt that says genius at work spend all his time watching a cartoon?

audience member-i'd like to withdraw my question.

I think this is one of those long-standing mysteries with the Simpsons. One of those things that viewers always will wonder about. It's got a bit of a cultish feel to it.

Like the mystery of which state they live in. Hints are always dropped. But we never get any answers. And we never will.

Maggie will also, never speak.

about the state thing.

in the fake documentary they said they were a northern kentucky family. but it's just a cartoon.

there was more to it....they said they were a northern kentucky family....but that was before they moved, or something like that....

the actual city 'Springfield' is part of the little intricacies of the Simpsons. There is a Springfield in almost every state.

I agree that there is a Springfield in every state, but if you look at a U.S. map, you will find a Springfield, and close by is a Shellbyville, both located in Kentucky.

Coincidence?

Bake 'em away, toys.

*but it's just a cartoon, right?*

Lenny: Aahh, I spent a summer carving Carl's face into that mountainside...

Homer: Uh, what did Carl think about that?

Lenny: You know, we never talked about it...

There's one in Illinois. I knew that when the Simpsons first started airing so I thought for years the show as about Illinois.

It only took years to actually "get" Springfield.
