Apple Store FURY

I had a problem with my MBP a couple years ago, so I emailed steve.jobs@apple.com and got a response within 5 minutes. It obviously wasn't Steve replying but we had a good talk about my issue and my opinion on the flaw in their delivery model and they had my MBP delivered to me next day and also sent me a free iPod Touch.

Give that a try if you don't get the service you want from Apple Care.

Ive been in that Apple Store in the E Centre far too often with issues, I think this is now my third Iphone?

I will say, it depends on who you get.

I've had two very bad customer experiences there, and finally a pretty decent one.

I found its the attitude the blue shirts have. That whole hipster motif they have going on, the air of snobbery, our products are amazing, look at how tech savvy we are, blah blah blah. Meanwhile you have a line up of people returning or exchanging your products because of malfunctions, glitches, etc.

I recall getting into a bit of a "discussion" with one of these idiots, and she actually said, "did you want to cease this interaction?" I was shocked, "interaction" who the @#&*$)#$_# speaks like this?

I think your missing a key point.

I brought in an unlocked 3G...APPLE GAVE ME a 3GS as a replacement. the card that was in the original 3G was my telus card. THE 3GS APPLE ISSUED ME...was by all accounts locked to TELUS as she popped in my sim card and away I went.

i'm not saying it's impossible you had a factory unlocked 3G because there were some issued in other parts of the world (and apple can unlock them after the fact here) but the standard Canadian released 3G phones were locked to certain carriers.

The only logical explanation for what happened with your 3Gs is that it was jailbroken and then when the apple rep tried to update it, the phone would brick up (this is what happens). I suppose anything is possible, and there could've been a glitch in the update, but it's unlikely.

Anyway, phones drop calls. It happens. Also I don't see how firmware is gonna "change" or affect RF performance.

Certain versions of IOS specifically stated that they improved reception. Also the apple store employee could update the phone's carrier settings and that could improve reception.

the apple store does not sell, and has never sold, unlocked 3G or 3Gs phones.

to replace your phone they would have to give you one locked to a carrier..and if your phone had a telus card in it then obviously they would have given you a telus locked phone. none of this is confusing. this makes perfect sense.

the reason your phone is not working now is either:
a) you jailbroke it and dont want to admit it
b) your sim card is broken

I remember I went into the apple store wearing a blue shirt once.

I was listening to some ipods or something. ANd some lady started staring at me... and staring... and then getting huffy....

So I take out the headphones and she's like "what do I have to do to get some service around here?" And I'm like, "lady, I don't work here."

hahaha

As a rule I try to avoid paper receipts and paper bills where at all possible, so I opted for this option when I was there.

You don't want to waste that 3x2" slip of paper when you're purchasing disposable electronics from China!

Hey tree hugger... by the way, I don't do paper receipts either, the Apple store actually tells you that they are obligated to give you a receipt and also asks you for your email address, which is used to send you an electronic copy of your receipt, in case you don't want a paper receipt.

They are OBLIGATED to provide a receipt; paper or paperless, everytime you purchase anything from their store, either a laptop or even a small protector screen, as every transaction is recorded in their system.

UPDATE:

Well, I've never had my ass kissed soooo much by so many people!

So, I went to the TELUS store to get a new sim card (even though there was no issue with the sim) paid 11 bucks for a new one. Sure enough, it didn't work.

Called up some super advisor that I had his direct number for and he called the store and made sure I was getting one. I told him I want a new phone not some refurbished shit which he wrote down in the notes.

I had already an appointment with apple for 7 so went there and after about 15 minutes some chick came up and I gave her my case number. she came back like 10 minutes later and said "I've never seen a case with so many notes attatched to it." She asked me what happend and I explained.

I also saw 2 out of the 3 fuck-tards and made eye contact with them once I got into the store, I didn't see them on the floor the entire time I was there after that.

She asked me if I wanted to speak to the big manager at first I was hessitant but she said it would be a good idea. I spoke to the manager and she explained that the individuals will be "coached" as to how to deal with situations like mine properly.

She also said as far as compensation goes, she couldn't do anything. HOWEVER, I think I'm going to call this super advisor and tell him that I want something other then the new phone that didn't really need to be replaced in the first place, having no phone for 24 and for paying 11 bucks for a sim card I didn't need to get.

Question for youse:

do you think I should call up apple and complain about my 11 bucks and see if I can get some sort of compensation for it. Like a gift card or something? or would that be pushing it?

I figure : I walked into the apple store on weds night with broken headphones I walked out with a broken phone. I spent all of my day yesterday on the phone with apple trying to trouble shoot. I was asked to go to get a new sim card which I really didn't need to get and spent 11 bucks doing so...I went to the apple store and they gave me a new phone which I didn't really need in the first place.

I was going to ask for some sort of credit or something I can use so I can get the applecare ext warenty.

you guys think I have a case?

It's not really because I'm trying to be "green", just that I find it easier to manage things like that electronically. I lose paper receipts, but electronic ones are easily archived and retrieved.

Yup, when our house was burgled, I was able to get insurance to replace my 4 year old ipod because the receipt was in my gmail inbox.

t'was as simple as search: apple ipod

If I had to rely on the paper receipt i'd have been up shit creek.

I'm like my dad. I really like having access to my documents as hard copies. Because you can't do electronic for everything, it's better for me to just have one place where they are. And if I'm missing it, I can always go online or something as a backup.

Don't you guys have receipts for appliances, warranties, taxes and all that stuff?
