Like hell Im gonna pay that much...

I like to collect DVD's and Im sure some of you do too..

i second the futureshop nomination..

especially when they get new releases. they put them on sale for the first week or so.. usually at a pretty good deal too.
plus they have bins of older stuff and they are usually dirt cheap.

My Ex Girlfriend works at Blockbuster, I get them off her for 20% off.

Sweet Deal!

I also buy previously viewed DVD's(The ones I dont care for) for 9.99$ + 20% off, it's like renting it for 1.5 times the cost, but you get to keep it permanently. She makes sure to swap the DVD with a new one, so there are no scratches.

Thanks Nick...

but unfortunately I don't have a girlfriend that works at Blockbuster...but I sure wish I did!!

Yeah and I've bought a previously viewed DVD...and it was 10 bucks and nothing was wrong with it..

if you are not planning on living at your place for a while (ie. a student), then columbia house is the way to go...here's what i did...sign up under an assumed name, and pick your 6 dvds for a penny, and your one at 'regular' club price ($15.99)...when it comes to the billing option, select "BILL ME"...they send the 7 dvds plus a bill for about $28...so right there you have 7 for $28...now, regularly you'd have to buy 6 or more at regular price, but you can order 10+ on you account if you send a money order (with your assumed name) for the $28 to clear the account...i've gotten 30+ dvds in the last few years for less than $100...

The Chasing Amy that was $40.00 - Criterion Edition. Most comprehensive DVD's around and do not have a large studio backing. They are independent, and therefore have to cover costs of renting studios and editing equipment that a major studio would have in house.

As for cheap DVD's

Future shop is good for mainstream movies, but you'll be hurting if you're looking for something a little off the Hollywood beaten path.

Sunrise Records is quite good too. I found the 3 DVD disc set of Brazil there for $85.00, which is a steal compared to the usual retail price of $120.00

World's biggest bookstore is decent from time to time, sometimes underselling the competition.

Music World in the Eaton Centre is sometimes as much as $10 - $15 less than HMV when it comes to some of the new releases. They also seem to have a realiable shipping agent, as I have yet to wait for something to come in there, except for some of the more obscure stuff.

It's amazing that they are in such good condition, and you can peal all the blockbuster stickers off the boxes,... and TADA, practically new.

The stickers were the only problem ... I couldn't get all of one off of Rush Hour 2
But oh well ... I'd rather pay $9.99 for it and have a little bit of a sticker on the back
Than pay $30+ and no sticker

I've got the Chinese hookups as well :D

Too bad the DVDs don't work properly every so often, but that's the risk you have to take if you want to buy DVDs for $3.

Wal-Mart. Cheapest place for DVD's. Tons of titles for under $20, and new releases are usually around $25.
