Anyone interested in wine tasting?

Hey all ...

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in something like this. I was thinking about getting 4-6 people together (depending on interest) where everyone brings a bottle of wine they'd like to try and share it with the group. Maybe make it a monthly thing.

Any thoughts?

I am such a wine snob! I just picked up a couple of bordeeaux's from the classics catalog. I'm not usually a fan of bordeaux's but the Chateau Lafite-Rothschild was too good to pass up scoring a 98...

The Wine and Cheese show at the International Centre is from March 22-24. Admission is $15, and tasting tickets are 2 for $1.

I'm looking forward to it.

Nice pickup God. Generally speaking I'm not a fan of French wines, but I'd be open to trying a few good ones (but if you bring that Bordeaux that you picked up instead of laying it down, I'm gonna smack you upside the head).

Fire me an email if you're interested, just remove the nospam tags. <nospam>futronic</nospam>@rogers.com.

Np Ivan. I assume I'll see ya there.

BTW ... God, did you take a look at the Vintages release that's upcoming? A few bottles that I'm looking at (mostly Italian), and I'm gonna head down to the Queen's Quay store to pick them up on the release date. You game?

Ohhh ya I went last year and picked up a few Henrey Of Pellem Cab/merlot's before the LCBO Jacked up the prices. It's a pretty good show.
My father gets to go to all the exclusive tastings like that woman in wine one last month. Bugger.

Sure Jo, the Saturday would probably be the best day to go (even though it's going to be busy as hell).

God, I'm huge into the Italian wines. I'd say the majority of what I drink is wop wine (like 99% even). I'll have the odd Australian, maybe a South African. And to this day I've only found one Ontario wine that I've liked.

Fire me an email and I'll let ya know a couple of the bottles I've got my eye on. And you're right ... your dad IS a bugger for gettin' access to those tastings.

The '98 Inniskillin Cabernet Franc is the only cab I've liked from Ontario.

I'm fairly new at this, but i know a bit.

I'll be up for going to that show for sure.

Dan<---prefers the heavier reds, especially with even heavier red meats. :)

How much did you grab those for?

Love wine - I'd totally be up for a tasting, but certainly wouldn't be able to make it more than once a month! Let me know details!

I'll be over in the new SUV with Caroline promptly. We would not DARE miss this; we are in such dire need of intelligent conversation after our trip to Cancun. (ooooooo I am making myself ill)

Hey Jay, count me in!

I have taken a number of proper tastings through school and work. We also do a tasting of two wines every friday (at work), so I feel I have a very large range of experience. I'm also a fan of Italian Reds over French ones. Over the last two years, wine spectator rated an Italian as best wine of the year. Viva la Barolo, Amarone, Sangeovese, Barbera,...!!!!!!!!

*plus - I can get my hands on a lot of wine that doesn't come through the LCBO, but through dealers via the restaurant, i.e. we get more than half of the total Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc that comes into Ontario every year (and if you don't know what Cloudy Bay is, you need a bonk on the head!:p ).

Matt and Val, send me an email to the address I listed above. I've got everyone else's info.

Knowing the weekend habits of the people on this board, I think it'd probably be best to do this on a Tuesday night or something to that effect, and we can have the first one towards the end of March, after the wine show. I'll wait until tonight to send around an email since there may be other people interested and haven't seen the thread yet.

Every time I try something new it pushes something old out of my mind. Remember that time I went wine tasting and I forgot how to drive.
