Anybody ever use Lynda?

Thinking about joining and getting my learning on!
I can't believe how many tutorials they have on there for everything...

Anybody ever use it that can give me the scoop? There's reviews out there but I don't trust those.

I find your last sentence interesting. Which reviews don't you trust? It's interesting because it really is the crux of facebook's value prop: relying on reviews from people who you DO trust, (and tribe.ca to a degree). My experience may be worth more to your purchasing decision vs someone on google reviews even though we have never met.

By the way I've never heard of lynda.com but I appreciate the link because it really seems interesting. I guess the best bet for you to do would be a free trial to see if YOU like it.

Yeah. I will probably do that but I like to hear from people and their perspectives. Sometimes they mention something I might not have ever thought of or mention a feature I didn't not know about or would have even thought about thus making my free trial more effective. I dont always trust online reviews because sometimes they're coming from sponsored sites, I'm generally pretty skeptical of "reviews" online. I know you could give me some bogus review too, but I feel like I know the community here and for the most part I think people are pretty honest when reviewing products.

But thanks for your remarks.

I leeched one of their photoshop tutorials and went through the entire 3 or 4 disks in one weekend a few years ago. They were an incredible learning tool.

btw, if you're the savvy type, you can find all their stuff on torrents/newsgroups, etc and there is no DRM

Are you looking to learn to program or to design? It's great for design, but for programming, there's better out there...

download it - if you want to pay go for webtuts for their premium account they have everything [what are you learning?]

Sometimes I find lynda.com tutorials drone on and on and on - maybe that's the information you prefer. I was trying to improve on my MS SQL info, was forced to skip the first few chapters on their intro bs that didn't really teach me anything new.

yeah definitely download it, I wouldn't bother paying for it.

like what? how to use it? or you want to create your own template?
how to set it up on your website?

or you want to learn php/mysql?!

How to use it to create a self-hosted website using a pre-fab template and maybe eventually creating my own template....HTML5, CSS....I dont know yet.

I've tried looking at tutorials on youtube but can never get one thorough enough.
