you Tard, you add to my social anxiety by joining the wolf pack on continually telling an Irish man to not consume alchohol. Or he's a looser, stupid shit. Whoever you guys want to call me today.

Get Bent, and show us more of your lovely tattoos. I'm sure each one of them is completely self serving.

I'm sure I know how my body, mental, and spiritual self works.

You sure do infer a lot from a link to a blog post. And what do my tattoos have to do with anxiety? I have personal experience with both it and alcohol consumption, so I feel I can speak quite freely about it.

It's interesting that you consume alcohol because you're Irish. I used to consume copious amounts of it to distract me from having to confront longstanding and deep-rooted emotional suppression.

To each their own, I suppose.

I was giving my opinion. Which for the most part I was following you on your comments towards my thoughts etc. I meant to say as applies to myself, but it came off like "well this is it". Agreed.

But to then throw in an article about Booze at the end was off the mark, and reeks of intention. So I said your tattoos were pooey. That's about it. You implied, I implied. :p

Thank you everyone for your input, it helps a lot! My day was better today, as some of the brain fog went away and I was focusing on my breathing all day.

JamesM, I am very active, and yoga is taxing... Not easy whatsoever!

I am going to try Calm tomorrow, and make it a part of my daily routine.

Thanks again :)

I forgot to add that I haven't had a sip of alcohol or done any type of drugs in many years, so that is not a trigger for me.

You should see something resembling tangible results fairly quickly. Just retain the awareness that if you are magnesium deficient, it can take some time - 2-3 months for some - for your levels to normalise.

There were some very thoughtful responses in this thread. As a sufferer of severe anxiety, thanks for the input.

I have had 2 severe attacks in my life - one when I was 14 and the other when I was about 32. It was horrible and I don't know how anyone could deal with them on a daily basis without being heavily medicated - the fear of another one happening must be brutal.

I had a legitimate prescription for xanax.
I don't see why anyone who gets panic attacks (I never suffered from panic attacks, fwiw) regularly WOULDN'T ask for xanax.

It almost immediately stops all anxiety and it really doesn't seem to have any other effect cognitively. I know it can be abused and people take it in unusual doses to get high, in which case I'm guessing it's like "david at the dentist"...

But if you just take what you're supposed to take, it has an effect like alcohol but without any intoxication. You just feel clear headed and level just with the apparent inability to feel any anxiety. It only lasts a few hours and by then you're fine.

It's also very cheap.

I guess I wouldn't recommend it if you get addicted to things easily or tend to abuse pills. Nowadays I think doctors are probably pretty wary about prescribing it...

But it works much better obviously than the deep breath and yoga techniques.

I bought the Calm Magnesium powder in raspberry lemon and took it for the first time last night.

All I can say is WOW! What a difference after just one dose! I am going to keep up with it as it works great. Guess I must have been rather magnesium deficient, as I looked up the symptoms today and I pretty much have ALL of them.

Thanks everyone, and especially Westside Wax for the recommendation.

good evening! i would also like to suggest a fun and natural stress/anxiety reliever. dance. come dance in a movement meditation/ecstatic dance event (sober space) or go to a 5rhythms class.

some links of the effects of dancing:

Effects of dance on anxiety. - PubMed - NCBI
Dance Your Anxiety Away | Anxiety Guru
Why Should We Dance? | Psychology Today

and some info about the 5rhythms:
Tuesday Class with Layah | 5Rhythms Toronto
5Rhythms | Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms

hope this helps!

warmly,
