in my experience, most people interested in sports usually get involved with them at some point

equally, those most vehemently disinterested in athletics tend to have never gotten involved with them

and as a result, they don't understand beyond a superficial level what a sport may entail or what value there may be to it

thus their view of the sport tends to be limited and self serving

condemning a task that one cannot do makes one feel better about themself and their limitations

it's a natural ego protective reflex

again, on a most superficial level that is true

you can reduce any sport to that kind of a simplistic reduction

at the same time, it takes many things on deeper levels (in terms of character, for example) to achieve those simplistic actions

I don't mind people having different tastes

What I do mind is when people can't respect people liking different things than them

especially when the reason for that dislike is not some objectively valid reason, but instead self serving ego boosting ones

So they have completely uneducated perspectives on what value the game may have beyond a superficial level

It's like someone saying acting is stupid without ever trying to make an attempt to understand just how complex and intriguing it can get . Yoo don't have to win an Oscar to just appreciate it's probably not just "pretending and shit".

Like I said, what I expect out of people is that if they don't understand something fully, to atleast have respect for the people that do

I understand how the game is played.

I sat through superbowl weekends as a kid. Fucking yay, let me tell you.

Then I grew up and realized there were more interesting things in the world.

I'm not a fan of the game, however, it has interfered with my schedule this weekend, so I have a hate on for it right now.



You started this thread, mocking people who don't like football. So in a sense you yourself are being hypocritical for mocking people who don't like the game.
