Another Maple Leaf Gardens rumour...

Apparantly the company that owns MLG is in talks to sell the building to Home Depot.

I could be wrong, but I don't quite see a need for a massive Home Depot in downtown Toronto.

This would create a traffic nightmare. All those contractors and what-not going in at all hours, where would you park?

FUCK HOME DEPOT IN THE GOAT ASS!!

If anything, they should at least sell it to a Canadian company.
Sheesh.

It would be a sad day to see the Blue turned to Orange.
Plus how is that store going to work?

Parking, loading, unloading?

Sounds like a nightmare to me.

THEY ARE MOVING THE GUVERNMENT INTO THE MAPLELEAF GARDENS AND THEY ARE TURNING THE OLD GUVERNMENT COMPLEX INTO A SHOPPERS DRUG MART.

OOOOH, TEH IRONING.

But how would you be able to tell the difference between the drugged up club hoes and the drugged up regular hoes? I'm against this plan!!!:p

ok.. now lets just think about this for a second

they were going to do a loblaws... and/or home depot in there..

now think about HOW MANY people go to a loblaws or a home depot..

now think about the area MLG is in

where is anyone going to park?

yep.. thats a big hellsno

If I understand correctly, parking would be INSIDE the existing frame. The place is 5 times the size and height needed for a regular loblaws or home depot, so they would have underground/above ground parking right in the building like a lot of other places...

parking would have to be inside the building and you can't escavate for underground parking below the existing foundation. this means that parking would either have to be at ground level, or perhaps at the top of the building.

it's a really expensive proposition for giant retailers like loblaws and home depot, and in the end i doubt it would be worth their while.

in order to develop that site into something useful, the best solution will likely involve demolishing it altogether and just keep the original facades.
