Thousand Oaks: At least 12 killed at California bar shooting

At least 12 people have been killed, including a police officer, at a country music bar in Thousand Oaks, California.

The shooting began at 23:20 local time on Wednesday about 40 miles (65km) north-west of Los Angeles, police say.

At least 200 people were reportedly inside the Borderline Bar and Grill, which was hosting a university student night, at the time of the attack.

Officials say the suspect, who has not been identified, was found dead inside.

They have not yet confirmed any motive for the shooting.

How did the shooting occur?
A college country music night was under way when the suspect, apparently dressed in black, entered the bar and opened fire.

Reports say the suspect may have used smoke grenades and at least one weapon, described as a semi-automatic handgun by witnesses.

A injured man told local television channel KTLA: "We just dropped to the ground, we heard a lot of screaming. My friend is the DJ so she cut off the music, we just heard a lot of mayhem."

The night is popular among the area's local university students
Another witness from inside, Teylor Whittler, said: "I was on the dance floor and I heard the gunshots, so I looked back and then all of a sudden everyone screamed: Get Down!"

"It was a huge panic, everyone got up, I was trampled, I was kind of left on the floor until some guy came behind me and grabbed me and dragged me out."

People reportedly escaped the bar by using chairs to break windows, while others reportedly sheltered inside the venue's toilets.

What have police said?
Ventura County Sherriff Geoff Dean described the scene inside the bar as "horrific" and said there was "blood everywhere".

He said first responders arrived just three minutes after the first emergency calls from the venue were made.

The husband and father-of-one had been a policeman for 29 years and was due to retire next year.
"It saddens us all and tears at our emotions. He died a hero. He went in to save lives, to save other people," the Sherriff said.
Police say they recovered a handgun inside the bar and found the suspect dead inside.

They believe he may have taken his own life but have not confirmed this.

Its crazy that when this happens now its equally plausible that this is islamic terror vs incel terror vs patriot/militia terror

We've already had the ones on either end to worry about for decades. Now we gotta worry about guys trained into incel terror online too.

Based on the tattoos only i'm leaping to this being a racist/skinhead thing. Its at least a form of Vanilla ISIS - whether thats racist or incel divisions we may not find out for a few hours more....

When kids can’t go to school or University students can’t go out and enjoy themselves without getting killed, it continues to be a sad day.

Condolences to those and all those who continue to die at the hands of any sort violence.

Right To Bear Arms hard at work once again.

Three people were killed and at least 12 others were injured in a shooting near a Christmas market yesterday in Strasbourg, France. People in the area reported hearing gunshots around 8 p.m. in the city centre before seeing a flurry of armed police running in the streets. At one point, the security alert level in France was raised to its highest level, sending 350 officers on the hunt for the 29-year-old gunman, who ran away from police earlier yesterday morning. Police had arrived at the suspect's apartment to arrest him for a robbery. He fled before police did a search of his apartment and found grenades. The gunman is still on the run but five people have been arrested.

Yesterday, a gunmanin São Paulo, Brazil shot four people during mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral. The shooter, a man who was attending the service, shot at members inside the church before turning the gun on himself. Witnesses said he shot himself in front of the altar of the church immediately after the attack. The victims haven’t yet been identified, but most of the people inside the church were elderly. The shooter has been identified as 49-year-old Euler Fernando Grandolpho. He had no police record and worked as a computer technician. While mass shootings are rare in Brazil, violence is not. Brazil has one of the highest murder rates in the world. Last year, there were 175 homicides a day in Brazil.

"According to a manifesto posted to social media before the shooting, he wanted to lead the Untied States to civil war by escalating political and cultural tensions.

Didn't Trump just nearly threaten anyone that isn't with him ?
Once this guy's Manifesto gets out and the lunatics in the US read it, all hell will break loose.

White guys are a huge terror threat these days, have been since the 90s

Scary to see places like Norway and New Zealand suffer under these crazy fanatics too so horribly
