Just curious as to how many messages and/or the how much information we can have until its full.
I'd like to be able to determine when i'm reaching my max, and also what happens if someone tries to message me and my box is full. Does it bounce back or does it send and not inform the messager that it was never received?

thanks.

there is a reason i'd like to keep some of the old ones.

and i'd still like an answer, not a recommendation.

thanks.

It is best to read them and delete them. do not leave them on the server.

From time to time I will batch-delete everyone's old PMs without warning if they start slowing down the board software.

I would rather you do it regualrly (delete them after you have read them) in order to avoid the surprise of having them suddenly disappear when I do a spring cleaning.

If you really must save them, cut and paste them into a word progrsam or print them out.

I will cut/paste/nsave them in another program.

I don't want to sound like an obstinate prick, but my questions still haven't been answered.

I happen to get a lot of private messages and if i go on holidays for a while, I'd like to know, at the very least, what happens if a message is sent and my box is full. Would the sender be aware that this is the case? Would the recepient be aware that this is the case?

Enquiring minds would like to know.
Inquiring mindswould , so there's 2 good reasons to respond.

thanks again.

Someone trying to send you private message won't be able to if your mailbox is full, it will display a message on the screen of the sender telling them that your mailbox is full, therefore you don't get the message.

By the way, having 1 or 100 private messages in your box does not affect the performance of the boards..

It has the same overhead as clicking on a forum section and it's retrieval of how many new topics are unread since your last visit - and that is a query a much larger pool set of data (all available threads) as compared to (all available PMs)..

...so don't stress over clearing up private messages..
