I honestly don't see any reason as to why it is still in use. A zipper is much more efficient. Especially for doing up the pants. Some may say it is the safety factor (for men anyways), but I just don't buy that. Others may feel it is a reliability issue as buttons will fail far less often than a zipper. But I ask, how often has the zipper on your pants ever failed you? Probably never.
I just find it takes you an extra minute to re-do up your pants everytime you have to go to the bathroom. And when you are a guy at a urinal spending that much time with your hands manipulating that area, it looks like you are trying to pleasure yourself in public.
Can anyone convince me of some good reasons as to why the button-fly is superior to the zipper?
