Admitting?

Just wondering if anyone knows this? I have an appointment to see a specialist on Moday at Mount Sinai Hospital. Now their instructions are to get an admitting card before coming to the office to see them. What I am wondering is if this is standard procedure or am I actually being admitted? Nothing was said to me so I am just wondering if I should arrange to have someone pick me up after my appointment?

Help please

have you ever been to that hospital before? Every hospital requires you get a card specific to that hospital when you first go there. I think it's mainly to make subsequent trips more convenient for filing. Doesn't mean you are going to be admitted afaik

Probably not - you just need one of those little hospital cards they print out for you whenever you go into emergency or anywhere else in the hospital. It identifies you to the hospital and is part of their patient process.

It's just a Mt Sinai policy where you have to get one of their hospotal cards before you can see any of the doctors in the building.

It only takes a few minutes, just make sure to bring your health card with you and hit the admitting area on the main floor before your appointment. I went through the same thing for some physio there last year and it's a lot easier than they make it sound.

edit - or what everyone else has already said

I would call the Admittance office at the hospital...

Confusing, I know... They will be the best to help ya :)
Good luck!

Standard Procedure.

Go to main floor, stand in line, they will issue you an "admitting card".

Even when you go to Sinai as an "outpatient" to see a specialist, you still require an "admitting card".

Next time you go back you will already have your admitting card and won't stand in line!

I haven't been back. Mine is in my wallet and I sometimes use it for other things.

ok, i thought this was weird. I mean I could be going for another gastroscopy... and they would admit me for that, but I wasn't told. Thanks. Just needed to know if I should have someone to pick me up after, the last scope I totally couldn't walk out on my own two feet!

I'm picturing a nurse in the Admitting office surfing Tribe for the answer.

Standard procedure with Mt. Sinai. I wasn't even a patient (I had to work on a specific research) and I had to get a card.

what people don't know is the card is laced with mind controlling substances and by putting the card into your wallet you totally absolve MSH from any liability. HAHAHA (evil laugh)
