I personally hate wrestling, but my girlfriend and myself were eating dinner at this fancy thai place during wrestlemania just recently, and Kenvin Nash came in....he is one of the hugest humans that I have ever seen...
seriously fucking big....we looked him up so that we could find out who he was, cause there was no doubt he was a wrestler, and he's 6'11" and over 300 pounds.

yah, but think back dude....some of them sucked pretty hard.
the hacksaw jim duggin had carried a 2 x 4.....ooooooh, what a fantastic gimick that was
and that mr. perfect could smack his gum with his hand.....haha.
I think the gimick memories have a little something to do with the nostalgia of youth, not so much their quality.
yeah, its true that alot of thos wrestlers sucked even thought their gimicks were funny. And nostagia is a big part of liking the old guys.
but then again i was never a fan of the actual technical wresting skills the guys had. I just liked watching the oldschool promos pretty much! you gotta love those still, always good for a laugh

Hahaha... although some characters rocked (Razor Ramone and Diesel, Narcicist Lex Luger Hulk and Ultimate Warrior) some of those gimmicks we were better off without.
ie:
- Duke 'The Dumpster' Droese - a wrestling garbage man
- Isaac Yankem, D.D.S. - a wrestling dentist (he's also the same guy who plays Kane currently and who played the 'fake' Diesel for a short while)
- IRS (Irwin R. Shyster) - a wrestling tax man who carried a briefcase to the ring
- Doink the Clown - he once wrestled alongside 3 midgets appropriately named Dink, Pink and Wink
- The Godwins - hog framers/hicks who brought a bucket of "slop" to the ring
- Papashango - Voodoo magician
The list goes on...
I'd still rather have one pissed off Triple H than a ring full of garbage men, cops, dentists, and other stereotypes.
Oh and xtollo... Tommy and I have discussed on many occasions the parallels between wrestling and dj'ing. It's so true!!

One of the excuses that I heard was that they brought in the old fogies just to bump up the ratings short term until they could finalise the split.
It still reaks of WCW though. Especially Big Show's "surprise" heel turn to join the nWo.
Thankfully that's on Raw though, because Smackdown has become an awesome show since they split the roster.
