Occasionally I park in the parking lot for the City of Toronto (illegally) buildings department. I’m out of there at 6 am so I don’t inconvenience anyone, although I’m not supposed to park there. Well, this morning my fucking car wouldn’t start. I then call CAA, and they say it’s going to be an hour or so. Fine, whatever. Except that when I’m on the phone the guy who usually parks there blocks me in. And when I go in the building to see what’s up one guy threatens to tow me if it’s there tomorrow (thanks dude, I was thinking the same thing) and then tells me the owner of the blocked car is off premises and won’t be back until noon. I see red and feel murderous rage building up inside me, and pleasantries were exchanged. I absolutely positively had to be at work, so I had to leave.
Since the spot is owned by the City, what ‘mechanism’ is involved in getting my car towed? Can any Joe Blow overpaid office worker call up and say ‘tow that bitch’ or is there the typical civic bureaucracy involved in this? Hopefully it’ll be there come this afternoon.
