4:20
I don’t know where I stand on the idea of 4:20. I mean, we almost celebrate illegality of drugs and in turn the oppression of thousands of incarcerated people in this country, by getting mashed? It just seems too petty and passive.
However, I like French philosophy so I put drug use in terms of Camus’ authentic rebel (The Myth of Sisyphus). Does making drugs illegal create a culture that is better than if it were legal? And in turn one could find meaning by being the anti-thesis to these laws…
Im thinking it kind of is. Who wants to buy ganj off some McDonalds type industry? Smuggling is way cooler. But the consequence is, 4:20 then represents the creation of the Drug Game. It defines the rules and the players and this illustrates their dependency on drugs. In other words, tokers don’t need cops, but cops need tokers…
So altho I don’t know where I stand on this issue, I think Im still gonna burn a fat spliff tomorrow, maybe ill decide then
