Well then why the hell follow any rules. You should have just slept with him and got it over with.
Or better yet start to date him and then see your ex boyfriend on the side and lie about it to the new guy...Oh wait like Hollywood that wasn't very orginal.
Okay back to plan A. Just sleep with him and move on. If you just broke up with a guy after 3 years you don't need anything but a night of passion to start the engine back up and running. Kind of like the nice gentlemen who stop to give you a boost with his Jumper cable(s).

Just as a caution.. by not ahering to the three day rule, you've moved up the timeline for the sex on the 5th date rule.
Unless you're on your back during date three, the relationship is definely doomed. You may be able to substitue oral for intercourse, but I'm afraid I'd have to consult with the handbook.
