apparently it was an attempted suicide.

Driver walked away, lost a chunk from his arm.

Lotsa people say he was running from the po-po as well.
Needless to say it was one hell of a crash regardless.
To put a guardrail cleanly through a car is a hell of a trick.

actually, i'm not too sure about the quality issue.




I have a feeling that he wasn't going just 100mph.

there's not much strength in the firewall, or hood/grille...or the rear window....100mph is believable...

guy is lucky regardless.

The new SiR's are built pretty solid though. The majority of those who have been in accidents with them (on ephatch.com), haven't been hurt, thank god. Mind you none of their fender benders have been quite like this! :eek:

Sorry, but I don't buy the "walking away" portion of the story. That was a significant impact, and most likely the driver was killed. Even if he wasn't killed, I don't he just get up and walked away from the incident.

It looks like the pics have been taken offline now, so I can't verify what I remember from seeing last night when I first looked at them.

Guardrail would win against any passengervehicle. Even a Hummer. Not that they can go 100 MPH though.

for real. Replace "walked away" with "airlifted out not breathing and hemorrhaging". Just because somebody survives a bad crash doesn't mean they actually walked away. All they managed to walk away from was an immediate death.
