$10 vs $50 haircut...

Ok so I've been going to this Italian Stallion barber known as Carmen in the east end who has cut my hair for the past year or two. Hes a great guy. He does it out of his basement, hes part retired and he even shaves me with his straight razor. (never a nic).

Then today I said enough of that. I went to the Lid Lounge on Church street and decided to get a "real" haircut.

Ive seen the light and wont go back.

Basically, I know I'm paying $50 for the "ambiance" and for some hipper and cooler hair cutter, but when I told her the style I was looking for, she knew exactly what I was talking about. Which was hard to come bye with Carmen.

So I guess this is a shameless plug for the peeps at the Lid Lounge, especially Michelle, who cuts hair wicked and is a charm to be around.

For $11 Tony never does me wrong..

and I even get to hear stories of the old country

I went to other haircutters and they sucked ass.

they use plastic hair shavers and still manage to cut me..

and they don't do a razor shave like tony does.

i needed a cut for some reason last year and the only place that was open was a salon in eaton center..

it was good cause i get a scalp message (i feel asleep)
and a nice cut..
but it cost me like $60!!

i used to always go to RUSS' in hamilton but since ive been back i switched to hollywoods cause they use hot cream stuff and shave your neck.. and its nice

Hahaha

I've got kindof a weird hair cut and all I really do is shave the sides every 2 weeks, I get it done in the concourse of the building where I work and they are the best and it only takes them about 5 minutes to do what I want. And sometimes I get a shave with the Straight Razor,.. Dont move he says.

It rocks

But I've got a weird hair cut.

Sometimes I go to House of Lords at the end of my Street... but it very tirering to do so cause this one hair stylist love me and introduces me to everyone before cutting my hair.

Anywho... Hair is cool, Mine is Long

Its all about the Italian barber Jimmy and Tony, cheap prices, great cuts, straight razor, and tons of jokes and laughs. Then again, look at me's head its a pretty basic cut.

The best barber shop in the city is the Terminal Barber (i think that's the name) beside the bus station downtown. Both guys do an equally good job,. I 've always wondered how many felons or lammists they must have done.

Heheh ... the barber shop I goto is run by a Jimmy and Tony. I'm not going to assume we're talking about the same place, of course. :)

An Italian barber named Tony is like RAY'S PIZZA in New York City.

lid lounge rocks!

I love the Lid Lounge... I got my hair cut there yesterday. I tried to get my hair done somewhere else but it never looks as good - definately worth the money if you have a difficult hair cut. Dean is the best!

You practicly fall a sleep in the chair, your so relaxed.
a bit on the $$ side of things, but worth every penny.

In line with my "try everything Torontian" attitude, I tried a place called Coupe Bizzare. Very, very cool place. However, the cut, for me, didn't do it. I guess it just depends on what you're looking for: the style you want. The other day I got my second local cut at a mall. I had to direct the stylist a little... but it turned out better. Oh well.

Ummmm ....

Civello?

Coupe Bizzare?

Something tells me any guy who gets his hair cut at one of these places would NOT be interested in checking out the WOMEN. :)

^^^ if thts so then thats good cuz it means less competition.

the girl who cut my hair is superbly dope to look at. so what if all the other men in there were gay? i dont think i would bother hitting on a woman who works in a service industry like haircutting because ...

1. they get it all the time
2. theyre being nice because otherwise we wont come back
3. they probably have men in their lives

(or women)

of course i could be assuming something completely opposite to what you just said ....

if so sorry.

When I was 15 years old I made the fatal mistake of going to a 10 dollar hair cutting place (Clue #1, it was in a Shopping Mart) because I was broke and wanted a change (Clue #2 the lady started looking up directions on how to cut my hair when I pointed out a style in one of her books I wanted)
...and the results took me a long long time to recover ;) (Clue #3 it was her first day on the job)

Never ever ever again. Yes it's more expensive, but my hair is my favourite part of myself damn it, and that means yes, I get expensive hair cuts (bout 40 bucks) every two months and I condition it every six weeks or so (20 bucks) because all that blow drying isn't good for it.

The place I go to in Montreal is called Tonic, it's an aveda spa and it's fucking WICKED. They give you head massages, and do make up touch ups and bring you herbal tea. The also do a phenomeal job. On the pricey side (between 28-48 bucks including styling and depnending on the experienec of your hair dresser) but totally worth it.

If my hair looks great, I feel great.

gah. i will not go back there.

the service i received both times was terrible:

first time: the hairdresser lost track of time cutting the client before me's hair and was 45 minutes late in starting mine

second time: a different hairdresser was late arriving at work (20 minutes or so), and thus late in starting my hair cut.

I am extremely pleased with the service i get at Poison Ivy.... I drive 400 km to get my hair cut there :)

Peace,

Sabina
