Friends. I hope Toronto can teach Ford Nation a lesson by getting to the polls and making sure his goon squad starting with Mammolitti are kept off the next council.
Again, what is his goddamn rush to do this? Clearly he thinks this is the opportunity for his allies to snag up enough seats that Dougie can now rule Toronto. None of this would be an issue if he just said, next election these are the rules. But no, Dougie needs to control Toronto. What a farce.
What is his urgency here? All his government has to do is mandate this change for the next municipal election and he is legally covered and the city can properly assess and plan for it. Instead he wants to invoke a controversial clause and recall parliament to make sure its done ASAP. Why...
Total bullshit move by Doug and reeks of vindictiveness and hypocrisy. There was ZERO consultation and debate. The people of Toronto should debate this and it should be on the ballot box as a referendum question, not dictated down from the ex-mayoral candidate loser. Didn't the PCs roll back...
Don't need to appease the PC party, they simply played on strings of an uninformed electorate who see 10cents/litre savings as trumping any savings from improved infrastructure (public/private) that increased energy efficiency.
